...Some 253 claims have been filed but only seven have been approved, 47 have been rejected and 199 are pending review, mystifying and infuriating families and lawmakers while raising new concerns about poor management by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales

...The Public Safety Officers' Benefits program offers almost $300,000 to families of officers who die from a traumatic event. The value was raised to attract more people to become officers and firefighters after so many perished in the September 11 attacks.

... The rejections and bureaucratic delays have angered more than 100 Democrats and Republicans in Congress, who have fired off angry letters demanding action, noting that Gonzales' predecessor had ordered claims to be processed in 90 days.

Turns out that Gonzales has been caught lying to Congress again... THIS TIME he told Congress the FBI had not abused the liberal-Patriot-Act surveillance law.

When he was given a memo from the FBI weeks prior outlining known abuses.

What does it say about The President's Honor and Integrity when he nominates someone like Gonzales?

Is he even fucking Legal in this country? Anyone check his papers?

its consoling to know that when the government kills us errrr i mean osama bin laden kills us, (sorry), that we will get 300,000 bucks of the tax money we paid back.

In an AP article by Laurie Kellman Assistant Attorney General Kenneh Wainstein described the violations in the documents as "Mistakes - not intentional acts of abuse or misconduct".  Many Justice Department Officals are quoted as "not remembering".  I think a bigger question is did Bush know about them and what did he do in response.  If Bush knew about this and did nothing then I would say it is grounds for impeachment.  He swore an oath to uphold the Constitution not violate it.

wel the whole of the federal government is violating that oath starting with the justice department.

What we need is a law where we can hold people who cannot remember in jail until they do remember.  a little solitude does wonders to jog the memory.
