Tomorrow morning I have an appointment for an ultrasound on my gallbladder- I had some pain in that area a few months ago that had me in the hospital so they want to rule out my gallbladder. Well, I believe, the pain may have come from some Indian food I ate the night before...was wondering, can a new food cause pain from the spices?? I am use to eating Mexican/ Puerto Rican foods w/ lots of spices but this was a bit diff'rent...since that night, I haven't had any pain so I am hoping it's not my gallbladder....I don't need any more medical problems at the moment

Hun, I had my gall bladder out. It is no big deal any more. They go in- laproscopically. 3 small holes- slo they dont slice you open.

Gall bladders simply wear out.

If you need to talk via phone- email me.

Roger

In a way- if it is a gall bladder- it is easier. ulcers can take a good year to clear.

BTW- 5 days after the surgery -you will be fully functional. The hospital had me to get meals on wheals for a week....

it really was quite painless.  tho- they waited to teh 12th hour to do me

It was Chili Cheese Fritos that started it... and a Strawberry Wild Jamba Juice that finally set things in motion..... So, yes... could be anything you eat!

Like pahunkboy said, it is really no big deal. They took mine out, and i even had gall stones in my common bile duct. i was moving quite well the day following the surgery, but my stomach muscles hurt pretty  bad.... nothing earth shattering though!

Good luck!!!!

Gang green had started in on mine.  the dummies at the ER told me to try not to vomit and sent me home. i went back 2 days later- worse. so they had to pump me with mega anti-biotics for 4 days.

Anyhow- in terms of surgeries go teh recover time is not too bad,- as I say they go in microscopically now-

you do not need a gall bladder.

oh, Krissi...i do hope that there isn't anything wrong with your gall bladder!  i had an attack about 30 years ago & haven't ever been bothered by it since...i don't think that they just wear out...ya gotta treat them right...or beat them into submission, one or the other

Gall bladder pain is relentless. Do ou feel the pain like a knife going through your chest out your back?  No relief any which way you move, lay down, sit etc?  i had a bad gall bladder i kept in my body for 2 years and suffered needlessely until it literally burst and i finally had the surgery - luckily i had the laproscopic surgery and a really good surgeon (we grew up together and he always had a crush on me lol... i never got a co pay bill from him :-)  He said it was a mess in there - it exploded and attached itslf to other organs like my bowel and he had to do some scraping off and was a long time in there - he almost pulled out and did the old fashioned surgery which i am soooo thankful he didnt because they cut you diagnoally from lower side to upper side and its a nasty scar - i have4 very small scars - barely noticable now and am pain free. i had a very horrible bad surgery experience which terrified me to go under the knife again.  i wish i had had it out when it was reccommended - all that suffering  - the attacks would always hit in the middle of the night - then all of a sudden they would be gone. And any kind of real fatty food would produce an attack.  If it is glal bladder don't hesitate - get that sucker out asap!  You don't want it to escalate till it's a life threatening emergency. They said i could have died from sepsis.

I just got mine out this morning... in fact i should be sleeping.. but i'm up... i'm trying REALLY hard not to take Vicidine.. I HATE how that makes me feel.

i'm off till the 18th.. doctor's orders.. <mumbles> Wish they would've been straight with me when I asked... i  had get my supervisor's fax number and have the Doctor's office fax them a note, stating i will be off till at least the 18th. Right now, i have really bad sore throat.. but it's getting better.

Thank you. I can take them, i just can't stand hwo vicidine makes me feel. So, unless absolutely necessary i won't take it.   So far i've been home since 2pm last time i was given some was in the hospital at 10am.. so far i've managed pretty well without it.

I went today and even though they couldn't tell me anything for sure, I suppose my doctor will have to do that- the tech told me that he didn't see anything abnormal and as a matter of fact, my gallbladder looked good....good news, I sure needed that...went to work happy and now i'm home....relaxing...thanks for all your caring words everyone.
