CrimsonMoan -> Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/10/2007 9:01:52 AM)

I was going through my yearbook and came across my drama club photo and got to wondering who else had that one teacher they they enjoyed above all else. Mine was my Theather Teacher in high school. Patrick Shimpock or Shimpy depending on how well you knew him. He was the absolute best I mean the notes he gave us were the same every year more or less and he allowed us to use them during finals. He was also very dedicated to us and when our budget got hacked because of sports he spent about 2-3 grand of his own money to make sure we had what we needed. So Who's You favorite Teacher?

In the 7th grade=- a noteworthy teacher.  Mr Merwick. The classroom had a poster not a window.  If you said the word "shut up", mr Merwick would come to you, and slam, a Chicago Tribune newspaper over your head.  So- it was a sport to make someone mad that they said shut up.

The room stunk of body oder too.

BTW- if he tried hiting a kid over the head today there would be a lawsuit!!  that fricken hurt too!

Mr Hacker was Fun-- he would lose his temper...

then in high school- we used to tap our feet to the green acres tv show theme song! it was hallarious!!!  1 or 2 would start- by the end the whole class was in on it!!!

Mrs Sweeny was my favorite. 5th grade.

I have a few one who got me to where I am now in writing and in learning how to get those things out of my head was Ms. Karen Hale, my Junior Creative Comp Teacher. She showed me that all that 'stuff' in my head had a way out, and that way was writing, she submitted a few stories I wrote for contests and I WON. She was an incrediable motivator, she kept me focused and showed me how all those scraps of paper I was writting things on can be the best ideas, she also opened my eyes to new authors and new generas of writign I had never considered; and when I was a senior I went back and tutored her Freshman class; I had stopped doing poetry, and for Chritmas she gave me a Magnatic Poetry set, I still have it and when I am in a 'place' where I can't think or I am in of inspiration, I take that out and start playing.

I have seen her since I graduated 9 years ago, I saw her when I was pregant with my son and then afterewards a few times.  Ms. Hale saw something in me that I didn't see. Damn I am getting all sentamental, looks like I have an address to look up and a letter to write.

Senior year of high school, my AP psychology teacher Dr. Cameron, if anyone ever went to BHS in La Verne, CA you know who i'm talking about, totally spaced out hippy woman, my favorite teacher of all time, she allowed anyone to settle thier own conflicts right in the classrom, so I could cuss out as much as I wanted and anybody was able to have a "talk" with anyone else by asking for time outside the classroom.

She let us use notes on tests and it was mandatory to take them down, but since she knew I never used notes and instead just used memory she let me off by letting me just copy all her notes just to say I did it, but I never used a damn thing in taking her tests.

I got an A+ every time I can rememebr...I think I may have gotten one B on one chapter, but thats it.

The class was awesome cause for some reason thats where all the hottest girls where too, although I dident have a chance with the "hot clique" since I was only in the "tough nerd" stage...all the cute ones (I differentiate from cute and hot..i'll fuck a hot girl but I'll be in a solid relationship with a cute girl to put it in a nutshell.) for some reason left the class after a couple weeks, some dropped out (it was AP after all) some had to leave cause they where on some official school student council BS...and what was most fucked up was that these where girls who thought I was cute too Arrggh!!

Mine was Mr Price...which is funny, because after Id been out of school 10 years and met my husband, turns out he had Mr Price at a differnt school (and 20 years earlier) and said he was the worst teacher he ever had

I cant think of his name...but man oh man. in senior high.  a literature teacher.  we disected 60s tunes- like dylan and such. he was big on thinking outside the box.

my college years- had some kick azz professors. I went to Governors State University- the Berkley of the midwest. I loved the labs! personal growth- interpersonal growth- transactional analysis.

lilsubl -> RE: Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/10/2007 10:53:27 AM)

i was just talking about him last night:  Mr. Odom...he taught Advanced Algebra, Calculus & Trigenometry my Junior year at Bellevue High in Bellevue, WA...he was so clear in his teaching of a rather complicated subject & he had been teaching so long that the fingernail on his right index finger curved to hold the chalk!!  that was a very well-behaved classroom, but most were back then, before dial telephones......

Trampler -> RE: Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/10/2007 11:00:40 AM)

Mine was Mrs. K, (that was what we called her too.) She was my sp.ed teacher from 3rd to 5th.  She drove me nuts when I had her, but she never gave up on me.  She is the reason that I stuck it out in school.

* to this day I still have nightmares about spelling dittos!!!*

nyrisa -> RE: Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/10/2007 11:14:38 AM)

Would this be the thread to discuss losing my virginity to my history teacher in the 11th grade, or would that be considered under a different heading? Hmmmm....

Lashra -> RE: Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/10/2007 11:19:10 AM)

Ms.Brown my drama class teacher. A very open minded feminist who not only encouraged us ladies to take school seriously, but also encouraged the guys. She was always talking about ways to better the world and how to accept each other for who we were not for the color of our skin, our sex, our religion or how much money we had. She was a very cool Lady.

sub4hire -> RE: Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/17/2007 6:18:33 AM)

In the 5th and 6th grade I had the same teacher.  Mr. Reader.  Over the summer his house actually burnt down and he was burned on 50% of his body and lived to tell the story.  I thought that was pretty miraculous even as a 5th grader.

Overall my favorite teacher was in my 10th grade year.  Mrs.  Haggerman and english teacher.  She taught me I could be anyone I wanted to be and even someone I didn't care to be.  That the sky was my limit at goals.  Never stop believing.

KMsAngel -> RE: Favorite Teacher Of All Time (7/17/2007 8:07:23 AM)

my jr high school home room teacher. didn't actually teach me anything. he was an art teacher (my stick figures are ok). he always flirted lightly with me, was a bit of a teacher's pet i was. maybe this is where my fondness for italians comes from? that accent, that moustache. and the fact that he paid attention to me in a way that no one else had at that point. he sent me the most beautiful hand drawn christmas cards for years. he died many years ago, but i would have loved to have met him as a woman, not just as a girl. his name was angel. now that strikes me as most intersting considering my nick on here! (the mind works in vy mysterious and deep ways)
