Ive noticed two things since being here as shortly as i have....
1.) some folks can make any topic political
2.) many folks cant seem to wrap their minds around the following concept.....

we agree, to disagree.....

do you, or i, ALWAYS have to be right?
i wonder if life for some here is always a pissing contest? or is it just an on-line thing for them?
anonymity is a powerful feeling
p.s. you will all be glad to know, i just down loaded the spell check on this site...woooo hoooo

STFU! 9/11 was a SCAM and you KNOW IT. You're just trying to cover it up by changing the topic to something OTHER THAN IT.

PS- Not that I agree with the absent-minded theory that everyone has an opinion and that they're entitled to state it without it being challenged on logical grounds. Only that, in some cases, things are tied back to random political agendas in obsessive manners.

Unfortunately, a lot of people don't agree to disagree. They have to win at all costs.

I just think it's a little cute that someone who's still on moderation and has to have all his posts approved is serenely exhorting us all to get along and agree to disagree.  But I'll join in.  Koombayah.

Uwince, this site really isn't that bad!
I've been in some where the people were just unbelievable, screaming epithets at each other, swearing at people.
I enjoy a good debate like anyone else but I do try to keep it civil.
Once someone starts with the personal insults they've automatically lost the argument.

I have to admit Popeye, you are the best at blowing off insults. I've learned a lot from you ... just so you know.

To be fair, this is true.  Most other message boards I have seen consist of 90% from one side (left or right) or the other while the remaining 10% consist of mental masochists who drop a dungbomb like "Bush is the greatest President in the history of the U.S.," and then sit back and wait for their verbal lashings to commence.

lol...
i dont think its a bad place here, i just become surprised at some of the intollerance for others viewpoints that i see,,when we are on a site that indulges so much in other areas..
frankly, i tend to laugh at much of what i see here,,its a great way to spend an evening while the lil ones are sleeping etc

It's an exceptional site.....and it's run by smart, talented people. And like you.....I've never seen it get out of control. Oh.....and it's free, too.

Hi uwince, sorry to hear that you're on moderation.

I agree here with popeye and littlesarbonn. Yes there are a few people who feel they do have to win an argument at all costs but this site isn't really all that bad.

Indeed I have not too distant memories of a UK based site which was far worse and in the end I thought it better to delete my account altogether and stick with CM (some people here I guess know me from the other site). I also post on a couple of other sites where reactions appear more extreme and is linked to my e-mail and I get positive and negative feedback. Sometimes I get flamed so much I wouldn't look out of place on a Burger King menu.

I know it can seem to get ugly and people can start to lose the plot, and this is where I stop posting... I'm not here to hurl insults at people or get involved in a slanging match. If I wanted to, I know a nearby council estate where OI could easily get involved in an argument and the fresh air would be good.

I agree to disagree, and at the end of the day I know that within a day or two the thread will fall off the page and a new topic will emerge.

Well thankyou Caitlyn!
And I must admit that I thouroughly enjoy your posts on different subjects!
You have the skill to size up an argument and make a very powerful argument from your considerable arsenal.
That's it, you, me, married!
