Well, the family home in PA has about 10 people with a key to it...that we know of for sure.  Here in IL....well, what's a key?  You can trust me then....both have a PA/IL connection...and I won't rat you on the porn....btw, anything good?

I didn't give keys to my house after my divorce, not even to family.
Once I realized that my family understood my boundaries, my mother received a key.  I've since found several friends here in the Atlanta area that have keys.

It is a HUGE matter of trust for me; when I do have a girl, I don't want just anyone walking in and misunderstanding what we are doing.

this is Chicago - leaving your door unlock invites a whole LOT of trouble especially since i live in a Black neighborhood.  too many shoulda-coulda-woulda  men (unemployed, rappin' wannabes hanging on the corner drinking 40s) out and about during the summer season

Have to ask, are some of your fears better now after hearing everyone else?

petdave -> RE: Do you trust anyone w key to ur house? (7/13/2007 6:00:51 AM)

No, but i gave my wife one anyway... i got tired of listening to her scratch at the door and whine

Hehe... totally just kidding.

No one else has a key to our house. i had a co-worker look after our pets while we were on vacation for a week, and i lent her a key stamped "Do not duplicate". Our "playroom" has all of our BDSM gear, and that has a separate set of keys.

When we moved in we had to change all the locks... the house has six doors including the garage, and the previous owner had installed five different lock sets. It was nuts.

it isnt that i have such valuables-on the other hand last night as i was "hiding personal papers" I found a batch of codiene......  and good many folks in this town would walk away with THAT.

Maybe around 4 or 5 different households have the keys to our house. The neighbors incase we get locked out or if we’re gone and they see water running out the door or something like that. Or if they are looking after the cat. My sister still has her original key to the house from when she was younger. We also have about that same number of keys from our neighbors, incase they’re locked out or we’re looking after the pets or the house.

How did we pick them, known them for years. One set of neighbors we’ve known longer then I’ve been alive.

Hmm, my best friend (and roommate), his boyfriend (another roomie), and two other roomies (full house lol).  I wish the landlord didn't have keys though!!!!!  I'd rather not show him the python in the 75-gallon tank I adopted heheee ;)

in the past, when my Master and i were in the early stages of our relationship and lived in a condo, he gave out keys to our home to a few Dominant men he trusted, but who were total strangers to me. He wanted me to stay in the mindset of being ready to serve, mentally and physically, at all times, so the understanding was that at any moment throughout the day while i was home alone, one of these Dominants could let themselves in and have their way with me. it kept me constantly nervous and fearful, which i suppose was part of the point. however my Master knew we would only be staying in the condo for a short time...it was never really "home" to us. since we moved out of the condo into a real place of our own, he has clearly said he would not do such a thing again, and the only people who have keys to our home are his parents and a close friend. and even in those two cases, they are not welcome in our home without permission, they have the keys simply in case of an emergency.

Angel has had a key to my apartment from literally the day I moved in. I will never liv somewhere alone and not have someone I know have a key to my place.  Ive lost keys, gotten locked out and had other stupid shit happen tat having a spare accessible key around is my safety blanket.

Before I met L, I didn't even know what those strange little slots on doors were for. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that one could lock up valuables that weren't living and breathing!

Seriously, before meeting her I never locked my home or car door. My possessions are replaceable, and in the rural area that I have lived most of my life in, theft was not an issue. As a New Yorker, she was horrified at the thought of not locking everything, and seemed to never have considered that a shotgun, Tommy gun, or large dog frothing at the mouth are other forms of theft deterrent.

These days I lock the doors because it makes her feel safer, and because I now have a possession that I find valuable and irreplaceable, her. And no, I don't trust anyone with a key.
