Hey everyone!! i am looking for artices (preferably scholarly or research based if i am that lucky) that discuss the benifits or positive sides of a BDSM within a marriage. I am writitng an autobiography for my graduate program about and i am focusing on how i have developed confidence and self esteem through my life experiences. I have to have research to back up my thesis about myself. Any ideas or places to try would be very much appriciated!! baybgirl

For incredibly long time articles concerning BDSM in any form were based on ppl or more actually patients who sought after a treatment. http://www.revisef65.org/ has some links who could lead you further on. Good luck :)

How can scholarly articles and facts help you or back you up in an autobiography about your life's experiences? Sounds interesting but how will the facts (theories most likely) assist you in what you are trying to present?

To be honest, as an academic, it is really, really hard to get anything approved that is of such a nature, concerning research. You might see one study sneak through here or there, but it's usually pretty rare unless the person is already out there in the community and has somehow managed to do a study in a usually hostile environment.

i don't mean to sound fishy. in the paper, i am suppose to see trend, and analyze experiences in my life. for example, my father left my mother when i was a baby and i talked about how i thought the expereince of him leaving me caused me to have a low self esteem...i always thought it was my fault he left. i found a research article about a study that shows a correaltion between absentee and unaffectiate fathers and self-esteem and depression. The articles help support the trends i see in my life. I hope that helps it be less fishy! -baybgirl

It sounds like the OP is looking for research that will validate her own analysis. I'm not sure how much is out there, to be honest.

Look up some "lifestyle" friendly therapists and see if they can lead you to the research. I wish I could be more help.

for what its worth, i once did a sociology paper on debunking the myths of submission and my main reference was The Bottoming Book, even if it doesn't help with your paper, i recomend it for any submissive to read... good luck chelle who doesn't think it sounds fishy, cause i myself have done papers on the lifestyle...thanks for coming out and saying thats what you're doing...
