chellekitty -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/12/2007 11:32:34 PM)

i believe the site you are thinking of is castlerealm.com  which is great for some people, but certainly not the only website out there with non-sexual bdsm articles and stuff...

edited to add by non-sexual i mean not porn

mistoferin -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/12/2007 11:32:58 PM)

You're talking about CastleRealm. Are you sending your friend there to learn about the lifestyle? I don't think very highly of that site. It's way overly romantacized and doesn't really give a good reality based picture of what this is all about.

If you live in a chatroom, CastleRealm is great!

servantbitch -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/13/2007 8:19:16 PM)

Thanks everyone. That was it...

AquaticSub -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/13/2007 10:00:52 PM)

You know, I've never looked at CastleRelm. Now I'm kinda tempted.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/13/2007 11:03:49 PM)

I recommend Castlerealm :)  I think it's a great site as one of many resources.

Elorin -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/14/2007 5:43:30 AM)

CastleRealm is a great resource, but only presents one aspect of D/s relationships, that of the romantic D/s relationship between two lovers, romantic partners, as well as sub and Dom. It is not meant to be the only way to do D/s, but it is a great resource for what it is. It certainly should be one of a few resources used when learning about the lifestyle and all the different ways that BDSM relationships can be.

CastleRealm....argh!  It's good if you like fairy tales and unicorns.

bliss1 -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/15/2007 8:46:23 AM)

I found castlerelm very helpful.
I didn't find it full of fairytailes or unicorns.
Lord Colm and jade spoke of what worked for them and found other's also.

It helps.

MasterNdorei -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/15/2007 8:55:50 AM)

Does anyone know, was the site constructed before or after jade's death?

zindyslave -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/15/2007 9:48:25 AM)

I beleive it was before her death, but I am not sure on that. I do think CastleRealm is a good place as are the different sites available to learn about D/s. CastleRealm shows how D/s was for them, people should understand by the way it was wrote that it was thier story and not everyone lives D/s that way.

I agree. It's very "fluffy".

Jade constructed the site herself during her terminal illness.  And viewed in that light, it's not surprising that the site engenders a storybook quality.  Life viewed from that perspective is a bit different.

The several folks I know who have spoken to Lord Colm about some of the controversial elements at Castlerealm say that he disavows any personal knowledge, and that what appears there is Jade's work alone.

Well now......  Having been around when the site was being created, back in the "good old AOL days of chatroom BDSM" I've got a slightly different take on that.

When being created, it was billed as something that they did together, during the "long distance" period in their relationship.

Yes, that's right.  All those rainbow and bunny snippets of advice where created by a couple who had nearly no real time experience with each other.
What it's become in the seven plus years since I last looked, I've no real clue.  But I recall how unhappy I was back then, to find that one of the most often "at the time" referenced sites for BDSM information of the time, was being run by people with what I considered no experience in the application of what they where offering as expert advice.

Unicorns and faerie tales are controversial?

Maybe I should take a look at the place.

When i first came to know about the lifestyle and still didn't understand exactly what was missing in my life i met Master here online ( not collar me). The first site He sent me to was Castlerealm.  Because it gave me a idea of what the lifestyle could be about .. for some. I have to admit it sure helped me understand some of what i know today is or can be a M/s or D/s relationship. Next website i was sent to was steel door ( which is not completely online right now).  There many of the articles i read there gave me more food for thought. Some had me wondering just what might be ahead of me. Both sites gave me a look at what this lifestyle could be. Helped me understand in some ways big and small what i myself was feeling.  Other ways Master was there to help me along as He still is today.
I just wish there were still as many good helpful ( non porn) bdsm sites on the net today as there used to be. They may not show all the lifestyle could be but they do help someone who may be a newbie, gives them a beginning. In my opinion :)

Elorin -> RE: Anyone Remember?? (7/15/2007 1:43:16 PM)

I'm not sure who spoke to Colm or whether it was online or in person, but the conversation I had with him in person basically stated that he knew the website presented a romantic version of D/s and that version is certainly not for everyone, but it was never intended to be the "be all and end all" of BDSM websites. He personally was critical of using it heavily as a resource and recommended it be taken with a grain of salt.

He maintains the site now, and certainly never disavowed knowledge of what was on the site. It was also my understanding from talking with him that he was with jade through her terminal illness, not that they were long distance, though I certainly never thought to question him on that considering the topic of conversation the night we had that talk.

Actually, if you ask him about some of the controversial items at Castlerealm (such as Jade's references to "ancient European houses of D/s"), I have it on good authority that he will disavow any personal knowledge, saying that it died with Jade.

I'd never run across those references on the site, but while he may disavow knowledge of specific items, he certainly seemed to accept knowledge of most of what was on the site. Perhaps it is just key pieces of information that he can't say where they came from.
