The Mistress has called me girl, pet, little one, sweetpea, and darling, and occasionally MINE (the last not too often as She knows exactly how that affects me [;)]). In public, or when She wants complete attention, She calls me by a diminutive of my first name. It's socially acceptable, but not something most of my friends use. It's a good reminder of how we relate. i have not yet caused Her to growl, so i'm not sure what She'd call me then. [:D]
i am the second of two submissives to the Mistress, and we each generally call Her something other than Her name in public as well. In my case, i am just not comfortable using Her first name, so we use a name that's understood to mean Mistress. The boy uses a name he came up with and got approval for. It too is understood to mean Mistress.
