I love that Rat Pack Era and Michaels singing style and lyrics just make Me HAWTTTTT!!!!!

Umm sea...you know that the DiVinyls did I Touch Myself originally back in 91 or 92. The Genitorturers just did a cover of it.

yeah Mike buble, ex girlfriend introduced me to him. We broke up so I hate the fucker now. what a shame, cant just separate the two. but he was a good vintage style singer. Nora Jones does about the same thing with her voice.

I have both of Nora's CDs. She says the second is "deeper" than the first but I still prefer the first album.

Anything by Leonard Cohen is worth listening too - love his style and song writing chops. Tower of Song - amazing.

You may want to check out Nina Simone too - her career spanned a lot of styles each of which she made her own but the plaintive quality of her voice and the spot on arrangements (she was a pianist and they are often the best singers of this style. I find)

Another brilliant chanteuse is Cassandra Wilson - her original stuff is a lot of fun (album BlueLight Till Dawn I think) has originals such as "one little warm death"(reference to the french name for the big O), and Solomon Sang - but her remakes are transcendent pieces of art - Billy Holiday's Strange Fruit, Hoagy Carmichael's Skylark, Hank Williams Sr. So Lonesome I could Cry, The Monkeys Last Train to Clarksville, Van Morrison Sweet as Tupelo Honey, and others - she maybe one of our best living jazz singers.

Sometimes you have to listen a few times to really comprehend these folks - very rich and layered but once resonance occurs its in your soul through and through.

Yes, I know and that song also has a sexy sound. I find the sound of Genitorturers to be more sexy and I prefer it because of how she has reversed the lyrics (I get down on my knees and do anything for you changed to get down on your knees and do anything for me, etc).

I have caught the last two shows in Austin. I have this image in my mind of dancing on my knees before her as she sings this song ;-)
