In it's pure form, Cosplay has nothing to do with S&M per se; On the other hand, how often do you find people wanting to find slave costumes and similar things to use in scene? Used as a general term, Cosplay covers a lot of the more theatrical roleplay sorts of scenarios where folks get dressed up and play out a very specific fantasy. (Personally, I some times refer to the generic black leather uniform as it's own style of cosplay. Some folks just can't get freaky unless they're dressed in the right costume)
