I've just received the following e-mail message sent to the address I use only for F/m purposes:

Hi. Mate has sent you an ecard.

See your card as often as you wish during the next 15 days.

SEEING YOUR CARD :

If your email software creates links to Web pages, click on your
card's direct www address below while you are connected to the
Internet:

[provided address to view card deleted]

Or copy and paste it into your browser's "Location" box (where Internet addresses go).

We hope you enjoy your awesome card.

Wishing you the best,
Postmaster,

The thing is, I dont know anyone named Mate. Nor do I have a mate. So my guess is that this is some sort of BS, or worse. Consequently, though tempted, I felt too chicken-shit to click on the provided link which allegedly opens up the e-card.

Does anyone have any experience with this outfit, or have comments?

Well...in a way I am happy i red this about the e-card....I have the same. Last week or so i get emails stating A FRIEND or A NEIGHBOUR or A MATE sent me this card....and when you open it...there is a virus in it. Thank heaven for my virusscanner! I have AVG free and i am verry happy with it. I thought someone hated me so much he/she was trying to sent me a virus....but i guess it's "just" random?
Anyway: do NOT open it!!

Do it.  Open it.  You know that you want to.
