It all depends upon what you're comparing. If you're comparing lifestyle collared relationships to vanilla marriages, then the vanilla marriages last plenty longer on average. If you're comparing collared relationships to vanilla dating, then they're about the same. And if you're comparing married/collared relationships to vanilla marriages, they're about the same as well. Bottom line is that, as it relates to length of commitment, lifestyle relationships are no different than vanilla relationships. So long as you're comparing apples and apples. John
