hmmmm...i'm sitting here nursing my bronchitis & my neighbor walks up to my door & tells me my daughter has found a parakeet...i go to the pool & find that it's actually a parrot, a small variety...now i seem to have a parrot...i want to get it a cage, but worry that i will go to that expense & the real owner will return & want it back...also, i've never owned a bird... so what do you all think i should do??

Contact the vets in your area - if the original owner isn't an arsewad, one of the vets should be familiar with it. If not, ask the vets if they specialize in parrots... and ask them what you should be doing.

go to the link that proudsub posted the other day freecycle.org Sometimes it takes a day or two to get approved to the group that is local to you but your bound to find someone who is giving away a bird cage (or at least some sort of wire cage)

so i found out some history on this bird...turns out he has been flying free here for over a year, even spent the winter outside...because it's not going to work too well for me to keep it, even if the Overlord lost His mind & allowed it, my daughter's fiance has taken it home...the bird seems to respond to him better than to my daughter or me, so i think that it may have been owned by a man...anyway, all's well that ends well, i suppose.....
