Castration is a theme in early Greek mythology. Among the first Greek myths is the story of the Mother Earth Goddess, Gaea, castrating her first mate Uranus (for locking up her children). This myth was representative of the fact that early society back around 3000 BC was matriarchal. The fact that women gave birth/life gave them power - women ruled the family ... lines of decent were traced through women ... the female Moon Priestess chose a male king once a year, and at the end of that year killed him and chose another mate. In mythology the male gods eventually took over, just as they did in society. But even in classical Greek (c. 400 BC) the men had vague memories of the fact that women once ruled. Which is the kind of thing that gave rise to the myth of the Amazons. The Amazons were in the marble frieze on the Parthenon - right alongside various other monsters. To the Greeks, an armed warrior woman - was terrifying! A monster to their way of thinking. Which is why they kept their women locked away - the Greeks knew what Gaea had done to Uranus, and had certain subconcious fears about women. These myths, according to Freud, gave rise to his "fear of castration" theory. Freud claimed every man fears being castrated and emasculated by women. This is probably at the root of why subs request castration. It's the ultimate emasculation by a woman. It makes cuckolding a male look like Sesame Street. I'm betting most men who fantasize about it, don't really want to go through with it. It's just a submissive fantasy. And if they do want to go through with it, they're focusing only on the single moment of losing their testicles - not on the ramifications to their body or their future sex life. I met someone once who had gotten a male sadist to perform castrate him. The poor guy experienced exactly the type of after affects that jflynn describes, weight gain, loss of muscle mass, lack of sex drive, impotence... This person now takes testosterone supplements and will be on them the rest of his life. He admitted it was the mistake of his life. Forget about having kids. Forget about women wanting to marry you - if they want kids. It's not like they grow back...
