If you do not have someone's consent to touch them, then touching them physically is assault. That's the way the law views it. If you believe that you are defending yourself, then that will be taken into consideration, but it's still assault if you strike the first blow, it's just that there are mitigating circumstances. Taken in a BDSM context, if something is a limit, then you don't have their consent to do it. If you do it anyway, that's assault. And if they withdraw their consent by use of a safeword - that's assault as well. :)) LH
