yesterday, i went to the pound and adopted a puppy.......here i go again[:)]

A Dog’s Plea
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me good food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

Seeks,

I'm so glad you did this!!!  I'm sure Razor is looking down upon you with a huge smile on his face!  Your new puppy won't ever replace him, but will fill some of the void left behind.

So.....details?  Breed, name, goofy things that he does?  (Or she, as the case may be!)  Enjoy your little furbaby, both you and your son.

lolol-so far he sleeps a lot-hes a lab mix thats black cept his legs and face-he has white markings that are adorable.....and when he came in the house, once he got done freaking out-he went and did a back flip trying to get on razors love seat-i put him up there and he sniffed and laid right where razor always laid-and even stuck his nose under the cushion like razor always did......

i think his name is charlie...i havent decided yet for sure though......

my son refused to even come out and meet him when i first got home......he said razor was his dog and that was that......remembering we got razor when he was 5, i let it go....

later he came in and looked at the puppy.....and had the saddest look on his face.....i started crying and said son i want you to know, if i were your age, and had just lost my first pet, i wouldnt want another one now either.....but i am 45 and feel the best tribute i can give razor is to rescue another dog and love it......then i asked him if he would trade all the joy razor gave us in order to avoid the grief......he rolled his eyes and called me a silly woman for crying-lol.

this am he came and sat down by the puppy and loved on him, and he fought smiling for so long......he finally gave in and smiled, and informed me i suck at naming dogs-picked up the puppy and said poor you.....shes gonna name you oreo or charlie or pepe lepew......he then brough our old poodle, daisy, to meet her nitemare-lol.  and he has left daisy sleeping and come in here to play with the puppy several times this am........

First of all : Congrats on the new doggie. And congrats to the new doggie who has a loving home and is out of the shelter.

Last year I had to put my kitty of 19 years down due to lung cancer. A few years before he died, I knew he was getting up in years and I thought I should get another kitty to ease my grief when the day finally came that I would lose him. So I did. It didn't help one bit. Handsome Boy < his name> was the light of my life and mycompanion thru many years of joy and pain. Don't get me wrong, I love the little girl, but it didn't help me as I had planned.

Anyhow... everyone told me I should get a new cat right after I put Handsome down. I just couldn't, it felt wrong. I knew I would get another one day, but not soon. Well, two weeks later a scrawny, sad cat appeared on my porch one night, hooped up on my kitchen sill and was peeping in the window at me. She was obviously hungry and a stray. I went out to the porch and got her a bowl of food and some H2O, she attacked it, then hopped up in my lap and purred louder than I have ever heard a cat purr. It was pretty evident that she wasn't a stray at all, but a " dump off ".  She stayed on my porch from that day forward and I fed her, brushed her and pet her. I asked around the condo complex if any one knew whose cat she was and no one did. I asked the neighbors and no one knew. So I took her to the Vet and had her tested for Fe Luek and FIV, all neg. The vet told me she was spayed and he couldn't determine her exact age, but that she was an
"older teenager". She is now mine, despite not having wanted another cat, and she is the queen of the house. The younger one annoys her sometimes, because she wants to play, but when they both come out when I garden they are like peas in a pod. They both have a place when I am in my chair, the younger on my neck like a parrot and the older on my lap.

Even tho I didn't think I wanted another cat right away, some one knew better and made the decision of when for me. Even tho I will only have her a few years, due to her age, I am grateful she came along when she did.

So, yes......the circle of lifes peculiar some days aint it?
And a blessing to boot.

i spent 2 hours walking around the pound......found 2 dogs i fell in love with, neither was up for adoption yet, and both had waqiting lists for adoption........i did one more circle and loved on all of them......was getting ready to leave, and went into one room on the way out-they had just brought charlie and his brothers out, our eyes met.....i picked him up.....he wagged his tail.....and i was an effin goner.....hes so adorable, and has only had one accident in the house.....and he loves lying on the loveseat where razor laid......

my eyes well up for razor still, but im sure he would approve of charlie....

and congrats on ya kitty that came and rescued you......

So, Seeks...it's about a week later...what's it to be...charlie, oreo, or pepe?  Everyone settled in ok?

And I agree...life is a fickle little lady......when you seem to make a decision, life throws a curve ball at you!  Usually for the better, I've found.
