Im simply amazed that people actually care about a sport where 9 people stand in a field and spit while scratching their crotch, while one guy on a small hill does calisthenics.

If he was found guilty of using steroids, then admit him to the hall of fame and point out that he had access to steroids where Hank Aaron did not, and the field boundaries were pushed closer between the time they each played.

"Barry Bonds is on the hall of fame because numerically, he hit more home runs.  This goes to show that it is easier to be an amazing athlete when you are never allowed to leave the kiddy pool."

The local radio station i listen to has a "Cheater Meter".  The sports guy tries to make humilating comments about whoever pitched the most recent HR to Bonds.  Honestly, i think it will be a sad day.  He certainly has not earned it.

(As far as Rodriguez goes [:-]... Mariner's fan here).  [8D]

OK, by that logic, admit ME to the Hall of Fame, and point out that Hank Aaron could hit a 98-mph fastball, and I couldn't.

It looks like a new all time home run leader will emerge in a
few days. I want to get excited about it, but it is not easy. There is no doubt that Barry Bonds is a tremendous athlete. It is quite possible that he would have broken the home run record without his steroid use, but the problem is, we will never know. Although oficially there will not be an asterisk next to his name, in many people's mind there is one. I think it is possible that the all time home run king may not be elected to the hall of fame on the first ballot. How sad is that? His being a big jerk doesn't help either.
It will be many years, if at all, before the taint of steroids in baseball disappears. McGwire, Sosa, Clemens, to name a few, have all been tainted. I guess we will have to wait until Alex Rodriguez breaks the record before we can celebrate. I just hope he doesn't do it as a Yankee.[;)]

OMG!!!  Bonds used steroids! Bonds is in love with himself! Bonds is a douche!

I can’t wait till the last Harry Potter book comes out -- so I can go stand in line all night like a complete geek.

Bonds is awesome. Juicen’may add a little braun, but it sure doesn’t make or break a quick set of wrists or superior visual acuity.

Read the NFL training camp reports.  Out of the small percentage tested, at least the three guys a week are suspended for testing positive with traces of Anabol / Deca-Durabolin in their systems. Big deal

I wish they’d knock off the charade, leave these guys alone ---and let them play, doing whatever the fuck they want to THEIR bodies.

Does Harry Potter shoot steroids?

If not a Yankee, it may be as a Cub, or Angel. I'm thinking those will be his next stop/s.

SeeksOnlyOne -> RE: Barry Bonds: Yay Or Nay? (7/21/2007 6:11:56 AM)

i just dont want him to break the record because i remember sitting in the living room, watching the game with my dad when hank did it.........it was just special.....

well, that, and bonds comes off kinda like vick, minus the dogs(as far as i know anyhow)

Level -> RE: Barry Bonds: Yay Or Nay? (7/21/2007 6:14:38 AM)

Yeah, Bonds could have never taken the first steroid, and I'd still think he was a tool, just the way he acts. Aaron, as far as I know, is a classy guy.

Sinergy -> RE: Barry Bonds: Yay Or Nay? (7/21/2007 11:01:00 AM)

He did break the record set by a tremendous athlete in the context of that man's time.

He played on a smaller field.

He took steroids to bulk up so he could hit the ball farther.

The pitchers who threw the pitches he hit took steroids to bulk up and throw faster.

He used a technologically improved ball.  A technologically improved bat.

I personally dont care if Barry Bonds (or Level; I cant stand baseball) is in the Hall of Fame, however, from a certain point of view, Barry Bonds and Hank Aaron were playing a different game.  If I get my vote, I would leave Henry Aaron in the Hall of Fame and put subtitles on Barry Bonds as the home run record holder talking about the context he got the record in.

A lot of people agree with your thoughts, Sinergy; it's being debated as to whether Bonds may very well end up with an asterisk beside his name.

I doubt it, bra.... Roids don't seem to have much of an effect on males who lack a nut sack.

Hey Ranger Bonds has a nut sack it is shriveled up and resembles beef jerkey instead of a set of nuts.

That's alright, brother --- But I bet that jerkey makes more cash in one day than you do slumn' on the swing shift all year [:D]

Yes Bonds does make huge cash. He makes enough to get plastic surgery on his nuts to have them restored to normal size.

HAR!

I'm sure the brother will take extra good care of himself after he retires in the next year or two. It's a good bet though that he truley appreciates those who sit in lunch room while on the swing shift and watch his at-bats and worry about him  ; }

NEW YORK - Curt Schilling says that Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire’s refusals to address accusations of steroids use are tantamount to admissions.

“If someone wrote that stuff about me and I didn’t sue their (butt) off, am I not admitting that there’s some legitimacy to it?” he said on HBO’s “Costas Now.”

When asked about Schilling’s remarks before the Giants played the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night, Bonds responded: “Don’t worry, my day will come.”

Mr. Bonds' quote regarding Mr. Costa's; "You mean that little midget man who absolutely knows jack shit about baseball, who never played the game before?"

Good thing he didn't say 'nappy headed' little midget man. I wonder what Don Imus is up to lately? Of the two references which one more likely represented the feelings and prejudice of the speaker? Oh well, at least he didn't refer to Curt Shilling as a "red necked honky".

Borrowing a reference of words yelled to 'Babs'; "Barry - Shut up and hit it"; then go home.
