Your kink is definitely not as cool as mine.....You all look real icky when your fur is matted in cum.  But it's cute that you all do this.

"Hey Marge, where did that pet get off to now?"

"I dunno Helen, but what's that on Your shoe?"

Interesting how the furry folk have been evolving over the last ten years or so. There seems to be several distinct levels to it. It used to be that it was a form of persona/cosplay, but the two seem to be diverging now. First, you have the people who have mental persona's built up. Then there are the fursuiters, who are a growing presence at the science fiction conventions (who are not always into the kink side of things)... and finally "furverts" who are willing to take their persona (fursuited, or not) into the sexual arena. I'm not a furry myself, per se, but I have several good friends who are fursuiters. and are regulars at the cons. The closest I get to it is pony/puppy play, where the objective is more to erase the human persona, rather than to build up an alternative, fantasy-based one.

Still, it's great to see someone finally start a fur thread here... I've thought it long overdue. :)

You're not missing much by not having a meatlife furry community locally. The last few I got involved with, the majority of the regulars were total moochers who never contributed anything and expected/begged/whined other people to pay for their food and drink and give them rides. As usual, there were a couple of responsible adults in the group who had jobs and cars, and everyone else (regardless of their actual age) were moocher kids. I would love to find a furry fandom group that wasn't primarily dysfunctional, but so far no such luck. Functional furries seem to be few and far between. They do exist, but they seem to be rarer than hen's teeth in the fandom.

Yeah. Not worth the headaches. I don't know what it is about the furry community that makes for a huge proliferation of non functioning, non job having, non contributing, drama-generating whiny-ass moochers, but there it is. If anyone can testify to the existence of a furry community that isn't like this, I'd seriously like to hear about it.

This describes the local bdsm group that existed in our town.

Once I burnt out and needed to not do anything than be a member it broke down into internal bitchy and name calling pretty fast.

Vancouver_cinful -> RE: Furry? (7/21/2007 12:23:52 PM)

I have a kitty side that comes into my BDSM periodically. Turns out my little kitty scenes are fairly popular at the local play parties because it's something different that makes people laugh and feel good about indulging.

I have no problem finding people who want to take possession of my leash, put me in a cage, dangle my cat toys for me...All very mischievious and fun.

I'm not a masochist, per se, so it gives me an opportunity to express a little of my bratty side in a manner that amuses, and doesn't need to involve corporal punishment.

It's nice to see more furries coming out into the kink scene. :-)

bipolarber -> RE: Furry? (7/21/2007 2:01:07 PM)

Wow. Sounds like your negative experience with furries mirrors my experience with Goreans. I don't know, maybe it's the mindset of living so deeply in your fantasy life that a significant fraction of fandom tends to lack social skills, and turns into... well, bums, basically.

But it's not just a furry-Gor problem. I've come across these types in all branches of fandom, kinky or not! Trek, gamers, FRPGers, techies, and so on...  For a while, before I got involved with anyone, or even let them get close, I'd strike up a conversation, and casually find out of they had a job, an apartment or home of their own, and if they had a car...  funny, but once you find out if they are self-reliant to some degree, you can weed out the fannish "leeches" fairly quickly.

chellekitty -> RE: Furry? (7/21/2007 5:19:10 PM)

can you be a furry if your animal is scaley or feathered? what about hairless?

1wildwolf -> RE: Furry? (7/22/2007 2:15:15 AM)

yes i do believe they are normally included in the furry community, reptiles and lizards are often reffered to as scalies and birds= avians for obvious reasons.

I think that furries are just an all encompassing term for of an animal nature, whatever that nature may be.

nicochan -> RE: Furry? (7/22/2007 3:44:42 AM)

Hello, furry peoples! *waves* I also have plenty of catlike traits. I used to RP in the AOL chatrooms and on Furcadia years ago as a lynx girl. I think I'm more of a housecat, though. I love curling up at my Master's feet and nuzzling at Him. :3 On a recent trip I went on, He warned me about the catcher trying to get me and that I had better check in with him every day that I was gone, otherwise He would think that I got taken to the v-e-t for an s-h-o-t and be d-e-d (basically wanting to make sure I stay safe... lol). He and His wife refer to me as their girl, but sometimes they joke about replacing me with a b-i-r-d if I get mouthy. Heh. I'm glad He lets me indulge in nico-neko tendencies. He is so sweet that way. :3 Besides, they're fun! And if I am good, I get my beatings. Those are nice, too. [;)]

zumala -> RE: Furry? (7/22/2007 7:45:18 AM)

Yes, on some level I'm a furry.  I don't attend cons or whatever after the first one that Pup and I poked our noses into.  Neither of us is /that/ socially pathetic.  [;)]  I've always identified with cats, I understand their body language and other signals very well.  And yes... I do climb trees, stalk, growl, hiss, have long nails, and nuzzle my mate in affection.  For us that's just normal.  I also loooove to have the back of my neck bitten, but... *ahem*  that's also a private thing.  [:D]

I've done a few rpgs online playing cats.  I still have one.  I don't actively play zumala anymore, but I use her name here.  I figured a shy, somewhat out-of-place lioness works for a submissive.

SoquilisGirl -> RE: Furry? (7/22/2007 9:56:50 AM)

I've had furry friends for years, and yes, some of them are definitely bums. I've never gone to a con or anything though, and no longer know any in RL.

On Second Life you will find *lots* of furries into BDSM (every one that I've met so far actually).

As for 'drama', I haven't seen much of it, but I've only -been- a furry on SL for a few weeks. I have a friend who owns a furry sim and when he asked where my furry AV was, I had to admit I didn't have one. I went out and bought the cutest little fox AV and now I wear that more than my human AV! For some reason the horny net geeks leave her alone and the furs I've met so far seemed to be interesting and kinky, but not pushy about jumping right into (virtual) bed. Which is a welcome change!

I also think that what Najakcharmer says about the furry community could also be applied to some people I have seen in the bdsm community, it is sadly human nature at times, whatever group they may be in.

Well, yes and no.  I've been actively involved in both the furry and BDSM communities, attending many events and gatherings, for a period spanning about twenty years and a fair chunk of geography in the United States.  I think I have a reasonably broad perspective on both the good and positive stuff and the fucked-up and negative stuff that goes on in both communities.  The furry community is very largely fucked up and socially dysfunctional.

Amen! egads people control yourselves... I know you feel yiffy but Jesus H Christ! [sm=ofcourse.gif]

My ex.. and as they say in the venacular... "My baby daddy" is a furry. He sums up basicaly all that you and most of us can't stand about the "Fan Boy" "Lamer" ie read "Gamer" mentality. Yeah.. I picked a real gem. His IQ is genius level.. smart as a whip.. but zip for wisdom, social or life skills.

I'm a furry, got my tail.. read Anthomorphic comics.. buy the artwork.. wear the T-shirts. ( My Red Shetland "What doesnt kill you Maims you" T-shirt is my fave! ) Dont go to the Cons any more though...

As for what I am.. for ease I do Kitty... but I am more Draco then anything else.. a bit hard for coz play.. but I am working on my second wing.

I fully admit I am a total geek.. I am a Rennie, often Klingon Trekie... Fur who also has been know to LARP. Mind you except for the Ren I have set the other stuff aside for years.

*chuckles* I just love the costumes.. and I have a flair for acting.

Aheeb -> RE: Furry? (10/28/2007 1:05:12 AM)

my only experience with furrys was in second life when I was a photographer for playfoxx magazine. They all generaly seemed nice, few bad apples but thats be be suspected. then again i was just the photographer not the person hiring. any ways I feel i am more neko then furry. I do injoy rolling around on the bed naked like a cat :)

MercTech -> RE: Furry? (10/28/2007 9:09:41 AM)

MasterDaveM -> RE: Furry? (10/28/2007 11:55:12 AM)

to those who are asking "wtf is a furry"??

basically its humans acting "animal like" (think of "thundercats".... they are human, but might eat dinner out of a bowl or lick themselves during commerical breaks while watching tv

... they choose the animal...
