They're for amusement.

i have NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO clue

LOL but i have one. Master likes it, so i suppose thats all that matters.

Maybe a dominant can get on and answer?

OR it could be for all those little wayward slaves that take off running and a system to catch them and drag them back to their Masters for torture and punishment? What a nice little fantasy that is!

It's like a vanity plate for your car. Really mean's nothing except to the owner.

Sort of like look at me I belong...Personally I don't want to follow a pack...I'd rather brand out my own trail but that's just me.

Although not used much today, in the old days, Mistress'/Masters used them as a way of identifying their owned slaves. Since "real" slavery is against the law, and so much drama goes with that word, many things have changed. Branding is as well against the law, so the issuance of a bar code/registration number is not being used as much. In some cases they are still used, yes as mere amusement or for the contentment of ones own submissive. Sometimes it makes a sub feel closer and more bonded to their Mistress/Master to see a certificate of ownership. I don't use the registration process any longer. No need. If a sub wants to leave they will do just that. But then the relationship wasn't meant to be in the first place. Hope this helps.

Pretty much the online version of a vanity plate as someone stated.

I've always found it rather silly personally.

Actually, branding is not against the law. There are branding shops much like tattoo shops all over the place. Just another form of self-expression...like piercing, tattoos, etc.

Edited to add: If anyone is interested in the history of bar codes, you can find it at http://www.adams1.com/pub/russadam/history.html

Branding is not illegal, in fact it is gaining popularity as a body modification. Some people are choosing branding instead of tattooing.

Don't forget about cutting. Personally I'd rather have that than a brand anyday.

I know a few fabulous cutters.

Yes, I had a boy once, and this was very important to him. he needed to be registered and have a number and a bar code. There was no whining, but he was very eager for this to happen. So W/we did it. It was a small thing but it made him happy. That is the only time I ever did it. It was important to him and he got to inscibe the number on his collar tag and frame his little certificate.

subexpose170 -> RE: Slave Registration Numbers: (6/24/2005 2:05:15 PM)

there is a line on your long form tax sheet where you enter it. After you can deduct all costs associated with maintence and up keep from your taxable income.
