what sort of training would one need to be considered a Master/Sir/Lord/Mistress?

not even gonna address the Domme part cause you didn't mention Doms and Domme is just a bastardized psuedo feminine version of Dom...Dom is short for Dominant, non gender specific....

If I ever get to the point where I take myself so serious that I cant enjoy a little light hearted fun from a silly name, then I need to remember why I had the name in the first place.

Usually, when name tags are used, they are supposed to be used based on training in the lifestyle. There is a difference a sub and a slave. While one can be a slave and a sub, one cannot be a sub and a slave. Meaning, you have to have had some trainings as a sub to become a slave and in the most cases collared.

Then, when it comes to being a Master, Sir or Lord, not every Dom is a Master, Sir or Lord. You have to have also had trainings to be considered those tags. So do Domme and Mistress. So, it will be completely pretentious to give yourself a tag that you do not really have full knowledge of.

My advice is that for now, just use any regular vanilla tag until you are trained appropriately. And as for your lady, I also don't think she would really qualify to be called "slave Mindi" if she does not have any basic training to be a slave.

Those are just my views.

How about a simple "Hi, My name is: (your name here): M.I.T. (Master in Training). It doesn't really matter what your name is, so long as you're comfortable with it.

I have a pic on my YIM from the WII game Raging Rabbids of a bunny in a french maids uniform, holding a feather duster and screaming.

AS for names I go by, answer to and have a T shirt emboridered with DV, so its easy for me. And its not just scene stuff, its pretty much any scrennamed event, gaming and geocaching too

sorry, but M.I.T. sounds like an adolescent camp title...and if i saw it i would have to laugh...yes, you may be educating yourself so that you may one day reach that elusive title of Master...but its not a degree...there is no standard of what makes a Master...at least not in any arena i have seen....

Essentia pronounced Es-sen-tia it is a synonym of "being", meaning of the soul, self, spirit.....

I think you should go with what feels comfortable to you. If you don't feel that "Master" is a title that fits you due to you experience level, don't use it.

My husband and I went through this same thing recently at SELF. When We registered, I signed in as Lady Pact and he signed in with his first name, even though at the time, he had a screen name on another site that was a version of Master Pact. (I want to inject here that this was a debate in Our house for a while. I didn't agree with him giving himself that label with no practical experience.)

Anyway, to make a long story short, when We returned from the weekend, his screen name was history, and he took a variation of MP. He was very glad he hadn't given himself a title on the nametag that had no legitimacy to it. (Not saying that is your case. Just sharing what happened with Us.) Since this had been a debate for Us, he had asked some of those in attendance and found there were more than enough that agreed with My opinion. He said that, had he used his 'other' name, he would have felt like a fraud.

I'm always just "TammyJo" + my surname if that is allowed since I am an author. Even if I'm one of the people doing a workshop or a reading I never feel comfortable with anything more than this because of my own personal philosophy about Ds titles. Fox is also under my orders to not use titles beyond the basic polite terms "sir" or "ma'am" for anyone other than me.

We have yet to run into anyone who has made a big stink about us not using their titles but that may be because those people just stay away from us.
