Aneirin -> Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 2:50:21 PM)

I have heard,or rather read somewhere on the internet, that some people are using past life regression in the hope that it might explain where their kinky desires come from, their need to submit and indeed dominate and all the cruel, degrading and other activities that are entailed in the lifestyle.

Has anyone tried past life regression and if so,what did you think, did it answer your questions?

No trying, but it happens (and not just past, I call it "other lives").

It sounds funny to me- is it really THAT important to know why I love bondage?  I mean I guess it would be nice to know but really it's not that big a deal.  Many more things I can see useful from knowing about other lives than that.

greetings Aneirin,

i am very very interested in this subject and plan to explore it in depth. having read several books on the subject, i'm convinced that some of my "interests" have to be related to a past life. these interests are not soley BDSM related. some may foo-foo the idea, but i've had experiences of "knowing" that only a past life would explain.
one such instance found me in 1983. in a little town in Germany. i knew this place and was able to find my way through the woods with ease; on trails only known to the locals. it was fascinating and frightening. there are several hypnotists around the world whose primary focus is "past life regression." thanks for bringing up the topic.

dream well,
dovie

I find past life regression fascinating,I believe I have had past lives and will have future lives, though I have not yet ventured into trying it for myself.
That will come. Some suggest a theory that what happens in a past life can run through subsequent lives, perhaps it is that questioning feeling we have that makes us consider past life regression in the first place.

CuriousLord -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 5:11:29 PM)

Naw, no past life regression stuff.  Used to have these incredibly vivid dreams in my youth, though.  Felt like entire lifetimes.  By the time I'd wake up, I'd often have soft tears on my cheeks, having lived a long life, and having known the passing of many loved ones before my own time expired.

I still feel it.  I know many lives, and many things from before.  Had sex debates at five- go figure.  Probably why I went to college so soon.  May even be why I crashd a couple years later.

In any case, was it due to past lives?  Feels like it.  But I typically don't believe in such things.  (Not that I believe against it- I just don't take a stand on things that can't be known just yet.  I do believe such things are rather unlikely, though- enough so to override any empiracle evidence I've yet encountered.)

Arpig -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 5:53:34 PM)

reincarnation is bullshit, thus past life regression is simply bullshit for money

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 6:03:08 PM)

I've spent more on ice cream in my life than I ever have on having other life experiences :)

dovie -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 6:51:36 PM)

Arpig....do tell us how you feel!  laughing....you see Arpig, this if your first life, so you don't have context yet...i think in your next life you should come back as the King of England..then you can say "bullshit" while holding a scepter....what say you?

dream well,
dovie

dovie -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 6:55:49 PM)

Dang LA. Did you have to mention "ice cream" I've recently been introduced to "Coldstone" ice cream.  It's just wrong for ice cream to taste that good. Waving hi and thanks for your posts and links.  You have no idea how helpful they have been over the years.

dream well,
dovie

nyrisa -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 6:56:53 PM)

I don't really believe in reincarnation either. Although I think one of the most compelling indicators of it comes when I speak with people who would be called "young souls". There are some people so naively clueless about life in comparison to others, that it seems to make sense that this is their first go around. And there are other people that I have met, that I wonder how in the world they could have screwed themselves up so badly in just ONE lifetime.

Arpig -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/25/2007 7:17:36 PM)

I once went to a psychic type person (On my ex's urging) and according to him I have had many previous lives...I just don't buy it...give me one shred of proof, and none of the "It seems right" anecdotal sort of proof....some real hard proof, and until somebody does so it is all bullshit, just like all the other forms of "life after death" myths...they are all just that MYTHS

bliss1 -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/26/2007 10:35:28 AM)

First of all Arpig - with that attitude no amount of "proof" is going to change your mind.  So I will not even waste my time making an effort.

Past lives can explain many things about our current behavior (even if you do not call it a past life - it is a memory from somewhere that you hold).  I see no reason why it cannot be a reason for various kinks.

Having gone through past life hypnosis and getting my certification in hypnosis, I found it very helpful when working with a client (or myself) when looking at and for behavior patterns.

...the problem with past-life regression is that there appear to be too many Cleopatras and Napoleons.  Seems to me that there is no adequate check or balance on the therapists role in such explorations.

i wanted to focus to the point of leaving my body. i was warned this is dangerous...

Indeed... out of body experiences are quite interesting... but probably dangerous. Which is primarily why I haven't done it for over 35 years now... [;)]

mnottertail -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/26/2007 2:14:43 PM)

in my past life I used to adore blowjobs, now in this one it is head----so....but I am trying to understand, truely.

i've had regressions done 3 times.

all three times i was "ordinary people".

bliss1 -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/27/2007 10:37:14 AM)

Leavening the body isn't dangerous - it is called astral travel.  Most people do it during their sleep.
But if you are nerveous about it - do not do it or find someone who can sit with you that knows you.
When I've done it in the waking state - I leave a silver cord attached to the crown chakra while I travel, I do not let that cord become tight or if I feel it is about to break - I return.

velvetears -> RE: Past Life Regression (7/27/2007 12:11:38 PM)

i would not use it to figure out where my kink comes from - if i wanted to figure that out (which i don't btw) i would use a psychoanalysts couch before a past life regressionists couch.

i do personally believe in reincarnation and karma.  You either believe it and get it or you don't.
