An American cat seems to have the ability to sense when a nursing home's resident is about to die. Oscar has been right in 25 cases so far.

Its nice to know but how would you feel when the cat nuzzled up to you?
Word has had to have gotten around by now.

I'd know that at last, all my troubles are over  !

Death doesn't frighten me. It's something we'll all go through. I'd be grateful to the cat for accompanying me on my last journey.

Kinda makes one take "paws", doesn't it  :)

(edited to add: http://mentalhealthrn.blogster.com/day_life____.html)  It's worth reading.

True, but everyone isn't like you.  People in nursing homes get real paranoid for no reason sometimes.
Imagine knowing what the cat does, then it decides to visit today.

I've been dead once in my life so far.  Then a few year's later given only days to live.  So yep, been there
done that as well.  Wherever we go it has to be a better place than here.

Yo LotusSong. You didn't have to close down shop just for Oscar n.1. But it's much appreciated anyway  .

Dunno, but I'd imagine that it either has caused deaths, or will cause deaths, in just this way. A lot of the people in such a place will have weak hearts and such. Having a "harbinger of death" jump up onto you, then nuzzling up next yo you, purring while it patiently waits for you to croak ... people have been known to have quite emotional responses to less than seeing the proverbial grim reaper.

Bit better if one of the nurses had the ability instead, but not much to do about that.

Either way, though, adorable cat.

Oscar is a dander filled, callous predator....That if left to his own devices would be tearing chunks of carrion off the carcasses of our loved ones the moment they have drawn their last. Can't we just let our useless loved ones die in peace in some out of the way building?  Why must they be preyed upon by some satanic pussy from Hell?

if you actually read the article you'll find that those Oscar curls up with are so ill they are unaware of his presence.

Domiguy, I'm sending my cats to comfort you in the dark of night.  ShadowChaser likes to lick eyelids while you sleep and Baby will sit on your chest and stare at you all night.  I'm sure you'll change your mind about the adorableness of devil cats!!!!!  Careful though, and don't feed them after midnight!!!!

LadyScarlet, where can one procure such supernatural pets? I am eager to acquire a couple... for personal reasons  I think Oscar's adorable, not only because he's red hot looking (I'd do him, what a stud) but because of his chosen profession. Death Merchant: what a cool job.

...imagine the scene...you're old, infirm and there's the cat of death stalking the halls of the nursing home. i predict a feature film with Lindsay Lohan as a nurse and Robin Williams voicing the cat.

Muahahahahahaha! I want the part of the cat :-)

PS: "Although most families are grateful for the warning Oscar seems to provide, some relatives ask that the pet be taken away while they say their last goodbyes to their loved ones. When put outside the room, Oscar is said to pace up and down meowing in protest." I pace up and down rather well. As for the meowing... you can only imagine.

I'm not trying to steal lil' Oscars thunder...But I'm cold and detached enough to take the job.....I think that I could walk down the halls of a nursing home, poke my head into a few doors stand over the infirmed give them a good whiff ....And then  proclaim "I got bad news for you Chester! You aint gonna make it"

I think my results would be equally as astonishing.

Why does something tell me you'd do it with relish? Whereas Oscar, well... that's a different kettle of fish altogether... Oscar does it purely for philanthropical reasons.

If you popped your head around to announce my death, I'd probably get a second lease of life.

I think I remember reading years ago about a cobra who did the same thing. Everytime he would slink into a room, that person would die.

I perved your profile....Hey you live just down the way....

Anywhooo this is how it would go....After removing the electric tape from your nipples (after applying the tape frimly to your nips with super glue) We would bed down....ShadowChaser better lick my eyelids to stop all that shit from accumulating that will seal them shut....And if Baby sits on my chest...Well you better get Oscar over because he will probably want to snuggle up to Domiguy because the chances are pretty good "I aint gonna make it."

It sucks...But I have a hard limit...One pussy per woman.  The amount of pussies in the room has to correspond directly to the number of women present....I don't know how it happened...But I am dreadfully allergic to those fowl critters....Soes this aspect make me less Domly?
