NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Like the common cold, obesity can be spread from person to person, new research suggests. A person's social network can influence their risk of obesity, according to new study findings reported in The New England Journal of Medicine. So obesity tends to promote itself from individual to individual. Makes sense- drugs and smoking tend to as well. Many things do, really. It's just some research, and perhaps something to consider, if you and your friends support eachother on unhealthy eatting choices.

It is apparent that something must be done before the chubs of this nation contaminate us all....Of course creating fat camps around the country might place some strain on the constitution...But if we all stick to our guns anything is possible....Catching the hefty, although they aren't the most elusive of quarry, will allow us to hoan our skills so that we might be better suited in apprehending the illegal immigrant. I understand their slender frames can allow for dramatic burst of speed as well as incredible maneuverability through the most rugged of terrains. John Carpenter, truly a visionary, was right on target....With his keen instinct he saw a world where the fat would be imprisoned...."Escape from L.A. Weight Loss Center." A true masterpiece.

Lucy, it's funny but when I'm on my walks or bike rides I don't see a lot of obese people. But when I go to the Chinese "All you can eat" Buffet, there they are!

Google "fat virus". It is a sensible hypothesis, for virusses mess with the biochemistry of their hosts. So if some obese people are carriers of a fat virus, the people who are at a high risk of being infected by them are those in their social network.

YAY.....I can now blame all my weight problems on other people!!! And its documented too! (you know there will be people who do this...oh its not MY fault....I cought it from that fat kid in 2nd grade) sigh edited to add the drips of sarcasm which may not have been evident...cause Im just as out of shape as the next typical american housewife

Greetings... This is a topic i have given some thought to..being a "woman of substance"..i have seen the steady increase of obesity over time..and how it has slowly but steadily been encroaching into society. ..even into the enclaves the "special" ones..who are of a nomal weight.. So..i say...we have the numbers!!!!..we need to mobilize our force..gather our numbers..and say..enough already!!!!!!...Sit on the next skinny person you see...we must shut them up..with their talk of better health and the joys of exercise..do it now..before they just decide to shoot all fat people..it seems to have gotten to the stage where we must get them..before they get us..For now..we threaten the thing they value most....being h/w proportionate...!!!!!.. Nothing will bring a person to violence more quickly..than fear..and now with this newest research..they will soon move from simple castigation and loathing..to fear..That is when they will become dangerous..You will either have to stand up and fight..or hide ..(of course..with a huge supply of twinkies!!)... Heed my words fat people..its us or them!!!!!! i swear if i couldn't make fun of this crap i could get a complex...NOT!!!! a chucking..ever chubby krista joy through service
