Faramir -> Gay Comeons (6/27/2005 11:44:58 AM)

I've noticed something here that is very much in contrast with my experience at b.com

I get a decent amount of email from gay men here, along the lines of "If you ever think you would want a male slave please consider me." The emails have all been sincere, polite - I don't have a beef with it - just not my bag. What's interesting to me me is I never got one gay solicitation at b.com in two years. It happened all the time at alt before I moved to b.com - I bet the majority of my mail was from men. It's happened some here, but like 10% of my mail.

I wonder why it never happened at b.com - I wonder if there is a systemic difference, or is this just happenstance that has led to a diffeent community? Has this happened to other men here?

Hi Faramir, I know your asking this question to the men here, but it caught my attention because I have experienced this same thing. I am not gay as my profile states here and the other sites I'm on, but I'm constantly getting emails the same as yours. What is interesting is I get the most from b.com, none from alt, and just a few from here. I dont mind these emails at all...I'm flattered that they are interested in me in fact, but I have to tell them no, I'm very sorry, and enjoyed getting their email anyway.

I have a question Faramir. Are the subs that message you identified as gay? Because maybe they aren't all approaching you in a sexual way.

I ask because I know one of my boys served a male Master because simply because he had respect for the man and though he made a good Master. I know the man who was his Master was bi-curious, but their relationship was not sexual at all.

This post reminded me of one started by MrThorns last fall... Removing gender.

I have heard of that sort of non-sexual power exchange, but these are defintely gay men, and the offers were clearly sexual (without being too crude or anything).

One interesting difference is that the ones here have all been respectful when I declined - "Thank you brother, but that's not my bag," and I get back something like, "Thank you sir and good luck in your search."

At alt I would get another, insistent response, unsolicited phone numbers, etc. Much more respectful tenor here.

I think part of it might have been that my alt profile was explicitly military - I was still active in the Marine Corps then.

Well that's pretty cool at least. Though you have to wonder why targeting you in the first place. But hey, flattery comes in many forms and from many sources.

It's conceivable - unlikely mind you - but conceivable, that I am physically attractive and intense enough to attract submissives in general.

Unlikely though [;)]

Oh it is conceivable ;) But I think what I meant to convey came out all wrong. What I should have written was ...

"Though you have to wonder why targeting you in the first place as you state in your profile that you are a straight man."

I'm gonna make a SWAG and say that it is the same dynamic when men here write to lesbians, or collared subs, or married women, or slaves with Masters...

I think men are often overly confident in their ability to persude [:D]

Good SWAG. I believe you might be right.
