This is something that has been greatly on my mind of late. My two year anniversary of freedom just passed not to long ago. So it has been awhile since I have been owned or formally in service. One might basically say I have been running amuk for the last couple of years.

The one thing that I have noticed is that alot of the habits I had when I was owned, alot of the mind set is history to some degree. It is like all the work, all the lessons were for naught. Now I do realize that with each owner's training and expections are different, but there is still a general decorum (whatever word you want to give it) that ought to be present.

So to get to the point, for those that spent much time out of service, did ever find that you almost attained a state of expeirnced newbie syndrome? (oxymoron, but still..)  i really dont know any other way to put it.

thank you for your replies.

love and light
lee

Not newbie, but definitely it's a different place and existence.  This is good- it means you've established yourself as a mature independent person.

Now you have to learn a different way of being.  Even though you've 'been there before' you've grown a lot since then and it's not so much a case of getting back on the bicycle as it is learning a new version of software.

As always, time and practice will deal with it, if the sincere motivation is there.

LA,

You have a very very good point. I have grown. My horizons have expanded, but on some levels I know that the general mentality was different. So I wonder if it is because we grow and expand or is it because we spend that time free and on our own?

thank you
lee

I told Him when we first met to treat me like a newbie.  I had been involved with a Dom a couple years ago.  That ended badly but I didn't want to go into a lot of detail about it with him because its been a couple years.  I had had other 'brief' relationship-type interactions since then but nothing really stuck.  Again, I didn't really want to go into the nitty gritty detail.  So, even though I had some experience, I decided that we should start more or less from scratch as if I didn't have any.  He agreed.  Its worked surprisingly well.

I think its worked because rather than coming into the relationship with a lot of assumptions about how things should go, my pretending to  be a newbie helps me to set aside those kinds of expectations and let him do the leading.

So, I guess I'm  thinking that if you're feeling like you've lost alot of your former 'training' (for lack of a better word), that doesn't have to be a bad thing.  It gives your next One the chance to teach you how he wants you. (If that makes sense.  I'm just waking up from a long nap.)

Wow gypsy,
That is an awesome way to have dealt with it. I understand the negative aspects of a former relationship, Although I never thought about not going into the nitty gritty. I mean I dont go into verse and chapter. I sometimes find it hard not to divulge a brief history of those happenings.

It isnt a bad idea though, because you most certainly are not the same woman from one instance to the next.

thank you
lee
