For those of you familiar with Bill Engvall's "Here's your sign" comedy, you may get a kick out of this....

The other day, i sold one of my strats on ebay.  i took it to the UPS shipper in my town (small office, only 2 people) and placed the guitar (in its case) at my feet while i was at the counter.  Also at my feet was my 5 month old UM in her car seat.

The clerk walks out of the office and over to me and asks..."can i help you?"  So i told her "yes, i have to ship a package"....she looks down, scratches her head, points to the guitar and asks (no lie now...honestly asks) "is this what you're shipping?".....

my reply? "No, i'm shipping the girl to her grandparents for a visit and figured UPS would be cheaper than USair"

Here's your sign....

Ive gotten in so much toruble at work when I have responded to a heres your sign moment without stopping to think about it.
Retail is chock full of them.

A customer walked up to the cooler and picks up a bottle of soda. He turns to me and asks me "Do you sell these?"
No sir, we just decorate with them.

While stocking back at the laxative section, I had a customer come up and ask me if we carried suppositories. I pointed them out, and he said that the doctor told him to get them. Then he asked "What flavor are they?"
Even though common sense should have prevailed... my mouth and my brain werent on speaking terms. "They probably taste like shit."

There are so many more, but I dont want to hjack the thread

SubinMaine,

Since I know the general area of which you live, I can apreciate that bit a little more than the rest. but I have one as well... I have been without a car for about 3 months so I take busses when I can't get other rides, and friday afternoon I was taking one to work...  Now on the front of the buss like in most cities says the route they are going on and the final destination... Which in this case is "down town" for the city I live in. As I boarded the bus, the busdriver looked at me and said, "you know this bus is going downtown right?"... I stopped, looked at him, and said " really I thought this bus was going to new hampshire (the next state over from Maine, where I live)" and without missing a beat, the driver said... "Sir we don't have busses that travel that far out of portland... I think your confused"

Heres your sign!!

DV, I had worked retail for over 10 years, (now in fast food.)  I bet every single story you have had, I or a ex-coworker had that happen to.  I used to work for a consolidated wholesale re-sell place, and one of our policies was No rain checks on any items, especially sale items.  If I had a dime for every time a customer had come up to me to ask if we give rain checks, I'd be filthy rich!  In the sales papers, on signs all over the store, they still ask.  Now it is understandable when it is someone who didn't know the store well, but people who had been coming there for longer then I had been there!!!!!!! Good Grief! lol. ok end rant
