Hello all, my very first venture into starting a new thread!

I'm trying to do a story that is BDSM in its intent, but done on a boat, big enough for ocean -going travel, but small enough for two people to sail it by themselves. I've done googles and eventually found that a "ketch" is probably the kind of boat needed. But i'm stuck for finding diagrams, pics, etc that would show what the inside and outside really look like. in particular, the ropes, placement of same, the masts, the helm, all the kinds of places that would be 'playable', etc etc

So are there any sailors out there who'd be able to help me with references? either on-line or personal experiences? i need some kind of direction pointed out as i just don't know enough about the sea-life to know where to look! any help would be very much appreciated, thank you [:D]

Google images seems to have lots of pictures that may be useful; I don't know of their accuracy, but it may be a good start.

Next, try contacting someone who builds them.

Beyond that, I don't know.

thanks Benji, did the google general search and finally found the ketch, then did an image search, only found one so far that's remotely like what i want. hadn't really thought of contacting boat makers direct, however.

"Hi, i need to look at your boats, or any sketches you may have."
"Looking to buy one?"
"Er, no, i just want to see if i can imagine where i can be tied up, thanks. any tips?"

If i can figure out how to get close to a yacht, that would work better though. maybe a yellow pages search of local boatyards....[8|]

Depends on where you live.  In my area, I could probably name about 20 marina, but then again, I live in an area with probably a few thousand lakes.

You could always offer to try anything out on them first.....  Or, let them try it on you, depending on their persuasion....

Try Wikipedia, they give fairly detailed descriptions of the different types of sailing vessels and rigging.
