Finding a Dr (Full Version)

I'm on the hunt for a general practitioner in the Louisville, Ky area, and I am not sure how to go about finding one.  Does anyone know of any good resources for finding one?  Kink aware is not a must, I just need some things taken care of.  Thanks in advance!

I am not in Louisville, but I know in my local phone book, (for Omaha) in the Yellow Pages, there is a medical referral service listed that will refer people to a particular type of doctor in their neighborhood area, if you phone them (and the referral service is free).

Also, usually a University that has a medical school (if there is one in your town) can be a good place to find a reputable doctor. Just ask them for a recommendation, as far as the specialty (even if it is just a family practice physician, a GP) you are looking for. They can usually (in my experience) find someone, and set an appoinment up for you. This is also free (or should be, IMO). Good luck - Susan

People pay the referral services to be referred.  So, don't go there.  Start asking people around town.  Friends and relatives if they have a name for a good doctor.
You're going to hear the ones to stay away from and also a name or two of a good doctor.
We just had to do that ourselves.  It took us 6 month's to find a decent internist here.  Then another month and a half to get in.
Over the course of the last 6 month's we got a lot of blank stares when asking for doctors.

Now, we're on the hunt for a dentist.

find a dual practitionor.  one who does both md and naturalist.  Most with those credentials (on the avcerage) are pretty good.  but then you wont know till you see them.

It may sound goofy but I found my doctor by hanging around the pharmacy and asking folks if they were comfortable around their doctor.
I ended up with a fantastic guy who I otherwise wouldn't have found! Personally I am not comfortable seeing one that also sees friends & family but that is just my own personal medical phobia lol.
