A Dog’s Plea
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.
Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.
Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me good food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.
And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

Aw jeez I'm so sorry to hear that. It is a painful thing putting a beloved pet down even when it is really necessary. I'm so sorry.

CuriousLord -> RE: today we mite (7/31/2007 5:21:54 PM)

Sorry to hear it.

I guess it can be better to go easily, painlessly, compared to something slower and more painful?  I'd just give the puppy a good send off.

I'm sorry to hear that, it's never easy.

domiguy -> RE: today we mite (7/31/2007 8:27:49 PM)

Maybe you should take your sub to a Dr. first....Many liver ailments are treatable.

Adriana9 -> RE: today we mite (7/31/2007 9:26:23 PM)

Are sure sure?      I'd get a  second opinion   -at least-     before making an irreversible decision.        I'm with Domiguy on this one.    Five months is awfully young to have irreversible liver damage  And  also, so  sorry you to deal with this....

GhitaAmati -> RE: today we mite (8/1/2007 7:50:48 AM)

whats a chug? Is that a cross between a chihuahua and a pug?

Anyway....I am truly sorry to hear of the problems, It is heart wrenching to have to put down a pet, Ive only had to go through it once and I hope I never have to again.

I would honestly though look into some other options first though. At five months alot can be done. Have you looked into diet changes? Not what the vets get paid to hand out, actually heathly canine diets? If you have questions about what I mean feel free to contact me privately, actually spent 6 years studying canine nutrition because I had a dog that was allergic to processed dog food.

How sad , we have had a difficult last couple of years with our own health issues but the most emotional time was when we lost a Boxer puppy to  a brain tumor and had to put her down... All we can do is wish you the best ...

How dreadfully sad - I am so sorry to hear it. I lost a dog to cancer a few years back and it took so long to get over - make sure you have tons of pictures though - i didn't have enough of Bob!
I wish you well in your time of sorrow and loss.

Sorry to hear it. Its a hard decision to take. We love them as much as they love us. My dog, a beauceron female of 4 yo, its the sweetest thing i never met... A lot of times i stay looking at her and thinking how lucky i am to have her in my life... and feel that i am a litle insane for give more kisses to her than my past partner...
Anyway life is a bicth, and am not fond to think in how litle her life is going to be as any dog... for that i am no repent to treat her as if she were a litgle girl, because she acts like one....searching to be always at my side, smilling me... well ,all you know how they are.
be happy and live fully the present, because its too short
:)
