I'm sure that this is a topic that has been covered many times but ...

For those for whom the question is relevant - what are your preferred books on bondage. I'm obviously interested on details regarding knots etc, but I assume that bondage skiils are also broader than tying knots. So I'm also looking for information regarding comfort, safety, perhaps the psychology of bondage; it's definitely a case of my not knowing all the things I don't know.

Status: offline 		Yep, it's been covered 101 times.  Here's the best single place resource for the list of books, which include Jay Wiseman, Midori, Bridgett Harrington, Knotty Boys, Chanta Rose and DVDs by Osada Steve -- http://twistedmonk.com/book.htm.  And they have great rope as well. 

There are also adequate books on knots and decorative ropework available in bookstores -- look under sailing, boy scouts, or just rope.  I've found major deals when walking into a Borders out in the foyer area -- at least twice a year I come across a rope book in their $5 deal section.  I collect them and give them away as auction prizes or gifts to kinky friends.

Search the forums if you want more links to sites on bondage tuts, as I'm disinclined to go dig that whole list up right now.

Status: offline 		If you're looking for books that deal with technique, and just technique... I can't really help.

If you're looking for books that deal with BDSM as a whole, I might suggest John Warren's "The Loving Dominant". The philosophy might not jive with your own, but Warren's got some excellent how-to's and examples in there.

Bah, now I know I've got to get caught up on my BDSM reading...

oooohhhh lighthearted you are so right!....I have two claims to "fame".....one was I was tied up by Midori a few years ago....that was so very yummy.

I would defiently recommend this book right here.

It has a few pages of the crucial "need to know" information on bondage safety and then gets right into it, with step by step instructions with clear and precise pictures on many different forms of popular and useful bondage and knot techinques.

Jay Wiseman's book is great, but 3/4s of it is devoted to safety information for every possible bondage castrophe and the explanations of techinques are mostly threw written words with hand drawn pictures that are very often lacking in visual explanation.

This is book is just pure no bullshit and easier to read and understand then any bondage material I have found yet.

I havent read Midori's book so I cant speak on that.

Status: offline 		The Two Knotty Boys Showing you the Ropes Series is VERY GOOD I have it and their approach to many Knots is very Layman.

I suggest however that is you want to get really good at bondage to learn how judge Length by using pieces of furniture and seeing if you can maintain paterns and incorporate knots.

All too often I see people tie a series of knots but not have enough to finish the Dress.

I am with Mad Rabbit on this that book is better than any other I have come across so far and it makes a WONDERFUL Coffee Table Book. The Pictures are very professional. there is SOME nudity so be careful with the Midgets.

Status: offline 		Wraps and coils, not knots. Throw away the Boy Scout Handbook. You want to wrap the rope around several times so all the pressure isn't on one thin 1/4 line. Spread it out. Slip the end inside the last coil. One simple knot, or button, to keep it from sliding through.

That's what The Hungry Tiger of kinkyropes always says. And he's a regular at Shibaricon.
