Tell me. . . I have noticed that the BDSM lifestyle has not caught up with today's society.  There are many subs who would not even consider speaking with let alone serving a Master or a Mistress of a different ethnicity.  Is this true?

Haven't heard a thing about people refusing to consider submitting to someone based on race. I'm sure it happens with the same frequency as it does in any other social group.

I have seen many inter-racial and mixed ethnic couples around... I attend a couple regional events a year and have met some great couples and people of many different races and walks in kink

I've noticed a fair number of subs, both white and black, that will only submit to a black Dom.  I've also noticed a lesser few who directly stated that they would only submit to a white Dom.  (Those that desire a white Dom might be less vocal about it, since there is a higher population of such, it's likely easier to only bring it up if a Dom happens not to be white.)

In the vanilla world, I've seen girls who only wish to couple with a specific race.

I don't see it as racism.  It's a sexual perference as opposed to a prejustice, in the same way that being hetero-/homo- sexual isn't sexist.  Or wanting only to sleep with someone with red hair isn't hair-ist.  It may be shallow, but not truly prejustice.


PS-  I've seen "historical slavery" fantascies, too.  I've noted two flavors:
White Dom/black sub:  Slave master having his way with a helpless slave girl.
Black Dom/white sub:  Slave escapes and rapes/seduces/is-seduced-by the master family's daughter (or something along these lines).

Basically people just pulling historial slavery into BDSM fantascies as a roleplay.  We all have our kinks, right?

I have never noticed a prejudice against Black Doms. In fact, I have introduced a couple of Black male friends to the lifestyle, and have told them that they can expect to be very popular at parties and such, as something of a novelty. There are submissive women who have race play a part in their fantasies, and, as such, are drawn to Black men, of which there are comparably few in the lifestyle.
I must say that every Black Dom I have personally known have been extremely fine Doms. I would not have hesitated to date, play with, or serve, any one of them, with joy.
However, I must admit to a bit of 'racism' on my part. While I would, and have, Date(d) vanilla white men who seem to have a Dominant personality, who express an interest when I question them on it -- in other words, who seem 'convertible' - I generally shy away from dating vanilla Black men. My experience is that, most Black men are a bit Dominant of personality, which is very attractive. But most vanilla Black men that I have met seem to be drawn to a little kink -- problem one, I am not a 'little' kinky, but that is a problem I can overlook. But they tend to want their 'freak on the side.' I am not interested in being anyone's side piece. That is an insurmountable problem. And I admit it makes me preemptively defensive of my heart, and causes me to avoid vanilla Black men as dating partners.
But not Black Doms. I have never considered race to be a problem or issue in Dominant men who are already active in the lifestyle. It is not a fantasy element for me, so there is no special attraction, although I know that exists in others. It is just a non-issue for me.

I have seen very few who prefer to serve same race Masters, I take it as a preference not necessarily racism. But honestly I see lots of interracial relationships in this lifestyle.

Nope, i enjoy talking to people of all ethnicity. i've talked with Doms from just about every race and each one is unique in their own way.

as in the Vanilla world there lies predudice here also, but there are afew here in particular that will not serve a white D, they insist on a black "D" only.

Of course it's true. But society has the same issues.

While I'm sure it is true that there are those that choose to serve someone of their own ethnic background. . .it hasn't been a problem for me. Plenty of guys and girls out there are willing to interact with me (on different levels) and they aren't all Blasian (I'm half Black and half Japanese.)

i don't look are color/race when it comes to meeting people in or out of the lifestyle. but, unfortunately, prejudice exists everywhere. those type of people i avoid like a plague

No. It's not true, my first husband/dom was Asian. He was a fine dominant and we had children together. He was handsome and quite a gentleman, I am sure he has no trouble finding subs eager to please and serve him.

Sage, it is true, for some. I should have added that in my initial post, but I found it hard to believe anyone could think that the world of D/s is colorblind, in totality.

What?  You think that all the idiots stay away from BDSM?  The 2% rule (2% of people are VERY scary) works "here" just like "there".  OTOH, BDSM is where we focus on what we like, so it's reasonable to find someone who is searching for a Domme who, for instance, is a certain height, certain bra size (NO!  Really?) or perhaps someone who enjoys the same things they do (imagine that?).  So it's not unreasonable to find someone who is searching for a Domme who is the same ethnicity as are they.  What's wrong is when you think that someone of a different ethnicity is inferior, or you treat them rudely because of what they are. 

Be picky?  Sure, it's the best way to get what you want.  Be rude?  Naaa... that's just a short cut to getting what you deserve..

I am a hetero black dom and I know lots of black doms, male and female, gay and straight/ It seems there is more openess in the gay community, although lots of hetero white males are attracted to black females. I have noticed some reluctance from some white and Asian females,(in serving black male doms) but it may be the circles I move in.(I have been in the BDSM world for 30 years and have lived and travelled across North America)

Repy to Pontificator , whilst interviewing an Asian Transexual on monday whom is a Pro-Sub i thank god i was born in a country that promotes multiculturalism and the reflection of said policy in the general population is that it is  " Normal " not something i have to think about in being able to perform the interview the person's race , sexual orientation .

i have seen many people here and in real life who dominate/serve people of other ethnicities. So it really surprised me (and it might surprise a number of people responding to this thread) when someone i know very well, who prefers to serve One of a different race, was inundated with racial insults for stating her preference here on CM.

To respond to the OP it may be true that there are some who prefer people of their own race, but certainly not everyone... here online, on CM specifically, or in life.

I would disagree and say that BDSM is exactly like today's society.  Some people choose to engage/play with different ethnicities, and some don't, just as in the vanilla dating scene really.
My experience has been more of the opposite as a matter of fact.   M

As usual in these threads, I will doubtless be shouted down and abused for having a differing opinion, but as I HAVE an opinion, here it is.....

I personally prefer to play with caucasians. I have beautiful friends of all colours, but I am not sexually attracted to them. I have a gay grown up son, but do not play with gay people. I am 5'2", but have never been out with someone shorter than 6'0". I prefer guys with no facial hair. I prefer females with big boobs.

No one has the right to, or can make, sweeping statements about what we all should be doing. As in all things, it's a matter of personal preference.
