Rayne58 -> Vaginal prolapse/incontinence (6/30/2005 11:51:32 PM)

I went for a checkup last week and my doctor told me I have a prolapse of the wall of the vagina, most probably caused by the forceps delivery of my son 22 years ago. I had my tubes tied 6 years ago and when I stopped the contraceptive pill the same thing happened. With physiotherapy and doing kegel exercises it improved, but I still have occasional stress incontinence.

I have been told I may need surgery to correct this and "lift everything up". Have any other women here had this surgery? Did it fix your leakage problem? Was your sex life affected/improved? I would like to be able to be fisted at some stage, will this still be possible? [8|]

It all depends on the type of surgery you get and why you are getting it. If its just for the incontinence, you might want to try other more conservative measures first.

There are a couple of medications that can improve stress incontinence that may be helpful to you in addition to the kegels. One is actually over the counter: sudafed (it increases the resting tone of the urinary sphincter.)

Especially since you seemed to get a change with withdrawal of hormonal therapy, you may get some relief with topical estrogen cream. The pelvic floor muscles are exquisitely sensitive to the effects of sex steroids.

The negative is that it is absorbed by your body, so if you have a uterus, you need some kind of progestin along with it, and there is a mild worsening of risk for vascular disease and breast cancer. However the risk is not huge and it may be worth it to you for the benefit of avoiding the risk of surgery.

That said, pelvic muscle relaxation problems only get worse with the menopause and can accelerate with aging, so conservative measures may help for a while (as your kegels did) but you may eventually have enough of a problem that you still have to bite it 10 years down the line.

Either way, I would definitely tell your ob/gyn about what kind of penetrative sex you want to have – that may cause him to change his technique so that you have a better ability to do what you want.

i had 3rd degree prolapsing of vagina, rectum and bladder that occurred over about 5 years. This was caused by having a lot of kids, having twins both normal sized, fisting, doing tons of hard work as #2 from my ex-husband collection was a lazy jerk, and sexually abusive activities at his hands.....

with that said... the prolapsing gets worse over time... a sneeze, cough or hard laughter will cause urinary incontinence.... sex will be more painful as the organs move down... eventually standing still in one spot on a hard surface will cause intense abdominal pain that lasts for hours maybe even days.....

the good news is..... if your going to get corrective surgery, (and i assume that it will be done vaginally) ask your gyn if he can make you a virgin again..... mine offered this to me and i said absolutely!

of course, i then had the pain of beginning sex all over again to a Dom with a huge cock but oh well..... that goes along with being a woman........ lol

the bad news is... if you're going to do fisting after that, your vaginal walls will be a bit thinner after the surgery and may become damaged easier, and you may have some minor bleeding from that.... you will also destroy the wonderful repair work that your gyn just did.........

the operation does not hurt at all..... the only thing that hurt about the whole thing is when they pulled out the urine tube that came out of my abdomen during initial healing....

oh the biggest benefit to this is that in the back of the vagina, you will have an area of scar tissue that feels like a group of bumps.... when his penis hits these bumps.... oh my god.... i have never felt anything like it....... feels as good as an orgasm or maybe even better, well worth getting the operation!
