I don’t use a spanking or pain as a punishment in my home. The lesser reason is that it would just be rewarding bad behavior in my situation. The Major reason I would not think of it though is that to me, hitting someone for doing something I don’t like, feels like abuse to me. Is this true for everyone? No. I would venture to say MOST are comfortable with it. I don’t know how they make the distinction between a punishment and abuse, but obviously the majority of them do. Good for them. Just not an area I like to play in.
I like punishments that fit the crime. In Wal-Mart one day my sub was purchasing spices. She was blatantly ignoring me, and even got a little rude with me for talking to her when she was doing something she felt more important. I did not make a scene there in public, but waited until we were home. I called her in and told her why I felt she was wrong, and sent her back to the kitchen to think about it for a bit. She was still defensive. By the time she reached the kitchen it finally hit her that she screwed up, but she had to wait for me to call her back. I asked her if she was raising the importance of the spices to the level of importance of me, or if I was being lowered to the level of spices. She indicated the latter. So my punishment was this. Everything she ate for the next week had to have one of these spices placed on it. Every time she ate, she would be forced to think over the situation. Cereal with garlic salt on it is apparently not to tasty.
