ORIGINAL: BIllCT But the truth is I am asking the questions so newbies and others who have no knowledge or experience in D/s or BDSM can find the answers thats number one. As someone who is not new to BDSM and who learned about B&D and S&M by living it, rather than by reading about it, i feel very sorry for anyone new to BDSM who is looking to learn about it on the CM forums. Other than getting links for finding local groups and information about upcoming events or recommendations about toys and books, etc. (which are all good things), the main thing, (from what i have seen), that a newbie (and anyone else) is going to be exposed to by reading these boards, is that a lot of people here are very narrow-minded and highly judgmental of anyone with viewpoints and styles that are different from their own. It seems to me that a newbie could easily become bewildered and dismayed about BDSM, if they relied solely on what they read here. Even the definitions of the terms used within BDSM (including the term BDSM, itself) often causes such controversy and debate that a thread can quickly become sidetracked away from the original topic, not to mention the back-and-forth bickering that usually pops-up somewhere within most of the threads here. It seems to me, there is often more bickering over individual style or personality than there is actual discussion of the topic. It's really a shame, too. It would be nice if there were more sticking to the topic and less nitpicking over such things as "proper" grammar and spelling, and what amounts to individual style, in terms of expressive writing, as well as in terms of living a D/s or M/s lifestyle, for instance. Everyone has a right to express themself in their own individual style, both in how they speak and write, as well as in how they choose to live. BDSM is open to all. And, that includes people from different countries, different cultural backgrounds, different walks of life, different education levels, and different tastes and styles. It's my sincere hope that anyone who either stumbles onto this site, with little, if any, prior knowledge of BDSM or comes here by way of hearing about it in a chat room somewhere, will remember that there's no "BDSM experts" or "BDSM gurus" here or anywhere else, for that matter, and that what you read posted on here is opinion, based on the individual experience and ideas of the person posting, and that's all it is. These are opinions only and, hopefully, anyone who is new to BDSM will realize that and not take these opinions as some sort of carved-in-stone facts that must be followed by all. Hopefully, anyone new to BDSM will learn more from living it than by reading about it. Everyone has their own opinion.......this happens to be mine. slave joyOwned property of Master David "Commitment transforms a promise into a reality."
