Tens units are in most cases versitle, one thing to look for is a way to adjust power output (also known as intensity), pulse rate and width. They are also called by different terms based on the manufacturer. Also not sure if the mention of use for both tens and ems, since a tens is really for muscle and nerve stimulation. (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator), they are one in the same. Now as to the pads, i am not sure what it meant by 12 lead pads, but it sounds more like those used by ekgs or something. i doubt those would work Even if the first set of regular pads get too old to use medical (bandagetape) to hold one, you can cheaply make your own attachments. As long as you use common sense. As long as there is no way the 2 leads can come in touch with each other, your creativity is the only bounds. (if the 2 leads touch each other, it might damage the unit). But anyhow. you can make attachments out of copper , even regular metal aligator clips. All you need is a soldering iron and some wire and the connectors which are usually avaiable at an eletronics store . some thigns i have made http://www.slavechris.com/CopperCB/CopperCB.html or this coper tube , which is a wall stub used in plumbing, attach one electrode wire t it before insertion and the other lead with a clip to the skin nearby http://www.slavechris.com/wallstub.jpg
