No one's mentioning Wales for one simple reason. We are all highly intellectual here and value the cut and thrust of high level debate and insult. Picking on Wales would just be too easy.
Now Wales was conquered, and brutally at that, by the Normans running England; all them fancy castles around Snowdonia aint home made ya know? But eventually it turned out to be a good thing; apart from cross border sheep rustling (why the Welsh needed so many sheep remains a mystery - in polite society at least) and a brief episode involving that Owain Glyndwr, its worked out well.
Welsh bowmen saved the day on more than one occasion in France, it was the Welsh what put the Tudors in power, the last place to fall in the ECW was Harlech castle, manned by Welsh for the king. Yes, the Welsh contribution to British history and in some cases, survival, is legendary. And in their finest hour, they even repulsed a landing by Napoleon's troops on the Welsh coast - well, the women did anyway, which is no slight against Welsh women's looks either - it was done by trickery by a bunch of Welsh housewives.
If only we could get them to speak without spitting over everyone, using a civilised language, they'd be alright.
