does age really matter in the ways of experience?

Do you mean how long a person has actually been in the lifestyle or their physical age?

It can, yes.

Some ways not hardly at all, some ways a heck of a lot.

I find age more challenging in terms of life stage and cultural perspective differences rathr than specific experience differences.

I don't believe that age matters. Just because someone is older doesn't mean that they have more experience, and vice versa.

maturity matter beyond age

quietkitten -> RE: simple, really. (7/2/2005 9:06:02 PM)

I know many people who have been on this earth a long time, and don't have a clue! Conversely, I also know younger people who have endless wisdom and maturity. Age means very little to me.

and having more experience doesn't neccesarily mean they know what they're doing as well. In my opinion age doesn't matter. what matters is ones desire to gain more knowledge in that area they are practicing. How much time they spend striving to perfect that skill. They can be 18 or 80 and if one is eager to learn and puts the time and effort into it makes them more experienced in my eyes.

There's got to be a dozen threads on this theme.

quietkitten -> RE: simple, really. (7/2/2005 9:15:19 PM)

You are correct Lordandmaster, however, there are many recycled threads here..

RandBcouple -> RE: simple, really. (7/2/2005 9:23:24 PM)

i know many who are old as dirt and have the mentality of a 3 yr old. Many who are old and don't have much experience at all, or haven't learned from their experiences rather. It all depends on the person. Usually, as years go by you gain more experience, know yourself better, gain better insight, etc...but like i said, it isn't always the case with everyone.

From my experience older = more experience = better sex and D/s. However that is not always the case. As a college girl I've noticed that college guys don't really know enough to be great in bed, let alone good Doms. (get the sex right, then work on D/s). Now of course there are probably tons of 50 year olds out there who are just as bad. But the fact is that, in general, the older you are the more opportunities you've had to practice than us college kids who've just begun to discover sex within the last few years. So age tends to mean more experience

Estring -> RE: simple, really. (7/3/2005 4:12:20 AM)

Well the fact that you are older would give you more time to gain experience. What you do with that experience is another question.

Not sure if you mean exclusively BDSM (where I would suggest "No" for the most part) or D/s (where some of the experience which only comes with age could be a major factor).

One can be mature at 18, but there is much to life that is created only by experiences, including silly things like buying a car, balancing a budget, planning a career or a vacation.....

An 18 year old, no matter how bright or informed, is generally not going to do those things as well as somebody who has been doing them for a decade or two, and even if they are able to do so, they have not experienced and handled (or seen) many of the pitfalls of life one needs to develop techniques for.

I would no more submit to a "kid" (D/s) than I would advise a "kid" to submit to anybody. Neither is sufficiently competent at life to either take charge of the life of another and/or know what handing over their life means.

Nobody should get married at 18 either, but folks do it every day.

it probably doesn't matter....
but for me personally, i prefer the older Doms.... ~ z

fourpeas -> RE: simple, really. (7/3/2005 8:48:53 PM)

It does and it doesn't. It matters as much as you want it to. Remember when Ashton and Demi started dating and everyone went nuts? (Sorry to use a bad celebrity relationship as an example) But before you know it something else has come along. There are things that are easier with someone who's older and things that are more difficult. (I find a lot of blank stares and statements such as "You don't know what ______ is?" ...)

and yes, Lord and Master, there are a million threads on this topic... but we all like rehashing it...

Lordandmaster -> RE: simple, really. (7/4/2005 12:13:07 AM)

Since this is now the second time that someone has made a comment like this: I said that so the OP can FIND THE OTHER DADGUM THREADS. I was being HELPFUL, damn it.
