The challenge is starting a new thread that hasn't already been discussed ad nauseum <grin>. I will freely admit upfront that this is a challenge I will personally fail. I'm more of a thread killer than a thread starter (not sure why that is...lol), but it would be nice to have some fresh discussion :)

best regards,
fate

Mmm how about the price of tea in china, while blancing pomaranian dogs on your head:P

Seriously tho, I post mostly in the off topic because my idea's really aren't what is usualy talked about here. I've created a few thread topics that were fresh and never talked to death. People rarely reply to them because they're not to do with bdsm tho lol.

Well you are already ahead of me, then...lol. I rarely start threads because what interests me and the way my brain patterns work seems to be out of kilter with the rest of society.

LOL has there been one on blood baths? Femcar had one at leather retreat and that might be a good topic.

Thoughy I'm sure there's been one on extended encasement...

I'm glad somebody has put this on the table. I've been finding myself hard pressed to talk about most BDSM topics because I've read the same things being hashed out over and over. At some point, the board has the information and simply needs to be searched for advice and opinions.

Here's my offering...

"What do you consider were the key events and people that contributed to shaping your life to what it is today?"

For example, I moved a lot (15 times by the age of 15) all over the U.S. and overseas. I lived at three places twice (with a few years passing inbetween before relocating back). From age 15 to 33, I moved another 10 times. I had ample opportunity to contrast and compare if you will. Different parts of this country are almost like different countries in some ways. This experience gave me a lot of insight into how people come see and understand the world around them.

But I was also always and forever the new kid on the block. I was "different" from the other kids growing up and never understood why until I was much older. Some kids targeted me for harassment and for about 3 to 5 years, going to school was a daily hell. I never had any friendships that lasted more than a year or so because I was always moving. School work was tough bacause I was constantly having the rug pulled out from under me when relocating to a new area.

Some people think I'm anti-social but it's really that I've never lived in one place long enough during my youth to have whatever it is that others have take root in my being. There's a lot more but I think you get the idea.

Uh no. By starting this thread you have succeeded.

I don't think people should worry about putting up a topic that may have been raised before. Sometimes new members will have joined or different people might see it and thus new views can be got. Also threads can go off on different slants from one reply as people interpret things differently.

anthro...i had an "interesting" childhood and was not around "regular" people until i was in college. It was hard, trying to "mimic" their behaviors and fit it..and i was deathly afraid of being found out and ostratsized for being "different". This fear was rather exasperated as i grew older and married..and then the pattern recurred as i went through law school.

Now, at my age, i find myself less afraid..and much more accepting of people though they may be different in some way. i think the reason i have changed is because i do have friendships that run deep....some are 20 yrs old or older..and i know i am accepted. i also know that other people suffer the same fear of being different that i did...so in a way..i WAS a "regular" person all my life.

i cannot instill any of this in you, anthro..i can only tell you that ahead of you lies peace and contentment. i wish you all the best.

anthro - I think your idea for a thread is a fantastic one - but would you be able to start it again, because (just me personally) I don't want to hijack storms thread (although I am sure she understands) - just making a simple request - thanks.

Peace and Love
