        This story is messed up and sad. Immigration policy is such a mess in this country. Somehow though I can't help but snicker just a bit when I think about this guy trying to talk his way back across the border.   One report here.

        He was reportedly told, "Quit playing around," by the Border Patrol. Maybe it's the guys in Washington who need to hear that.

       Lest we get too sympathetic, he was in jail for tagging graffiti this time, and on drug charges previously. His skills in the English language seem to go unmentioned in most reports, but his embrace of his Mexican heritage over his US birth was widely mentioned when the story was new

It says in the story that this guy is mentally disabled.

He can't read or write, but he's functional and works in construction. I've been watching this one since the story started a couple months ago. How severe his impairment is, seems to depend on who is telling the story.

How dare you slander the construction workers of America.......I'm surprised the guy doesn't run for President...He's got most of the qualifications.....

The original story also stated that he told police that he was an illegal, NOT a citizen, he provided no identification, and signed a voluntary deportation document. HE told officers, HE signed the forms, the only mention of his mental disability came after he had done all this and been deported. Just a thought, but maybe it was to give the family something to go to the ACLU with, and sue the government for millions. Just my opinion, but it sounds like he got what he wanted and set out to have happen.
