Off the big topic......but Call me a cynic but I rarely give anyone the benefit of the doubt online. I have a strong self preservation instinct and would really like to see if I can live to see triple digits behind the word "age" when I fill out a document. I see far too many threads on here about how someone was not what they said they were, someone lied, someone is a faker, someone is a danger to society but had a very believable slick line and suckered in a bunch of poor helpless (fill in the blank). Wellllll, personally I think caution and pessimism online run hand in hand. Sure, I would like to believe that everyone on here is a sane law abiding person I could trust to take care of my dog and have a key to my house. Well, I don't. I would be a fool to do so. I am doing everything in my power to avoid being a statistic on a police blotter. That being said, sure, I take a few risks, give a few my phone number and name. Sure, those people can track me down and find me and my address. BUT, I also know the measure of my life and what an occasion crazy would be up against should they try to pull anything stupid. It would be far more unpleasant for them than it would for me, even though any unwanted drama is unpleasant for me. No, I never assume anyone online is being totally honest. I know human nature, I didn't just fall off the cabbage truck. That being said, I always HOPE someone will prove themself to be what they say they are. Usually they go one way or the other pretty quickly with a little communication. So yeah, call me a cynical old bitch but, I won't give anyone any benefits when it involves my personal life and the people that I love. Someone is going to have to earn my trust.
