siamsa24 -> What to use to clean the floor (7/3/2005 10:26:37 PM)

I am looking at the floor and it really needs a good scrubbing (you know, one of those get-down-on-your-hands-and-knees-with-a-cloth kind of cleaning). Does anyone know what can be used on a light colored hardwood floor for cleaning? I have never cleaned a wood floor like this before and I have no idea what to use. I know on normal kitchen floors I would just use soap and water, but I don't know if it makes a difference because it is wood.

That's what I would recommend, too.

Wonderful, I will look for that stuff the next time that I am out. I have just never had wood floors and had no idea what to use to clean them
Thanks

Definately Murphy's Oil Soap :) I love Master's hardwood floors, but I sure hate sweeping them 10 times a day...lol.

best regards,
fate

Hi siamsa24,
my Dom is a professional and said to use Johnson's Oil Soap, just follow the directions and use a very soft scrub brush, then mop it with clean water, let it dry, then wash it again with the Johnson's Oil Soap using a sponge mop.
it will be clean and the original color will be restored.... after a few days of drying, you can put any commercial resins or epoxy's to seal it... it's a good idea to do that sealing step.

Siamsa, actually Pledge makes a fantastic wood floor product (that can be bought in your area). Hands and Knees or a soft mop of sorts works best.

Couldn't find this one at the local Marc's Superstore, so I got Murphy's Oil Soap. We will see how it goes.

I don't really need to be putting too much into this floor, we aren't going to be living here forever.
