Has anyone seen this flick? When i heard the name i thought , "good lawd another snakes on a plane type " ugh! What a delightful surprise to find otherwise.Rarely does the film industry portray any type of D/s in a positive way. This film wins the prize. Between the utter "I am in control, Get Your ass back in my house Bitch" of Samuel Jackson, to the pure sexual draw of Christina Ricci(who would have thought that Wednesday Adams was so hot) this film held my attention from start to finish. Every scene was captivating and stirred all my emotions , from pissed off to thrilled, from defiance to good lawd i'm wet! Not sure which was my fav scene . i have narrowed it done to two.The scene where she wraps herself in that thick chain for security and comfort, and the scene where He is playing the guitar and she is at His knee. Oh my lawd, i have a new favorite movie.
Anyone else's opinion?????

Oh, exactly. Those are the same two scenes that I love best...when she wrapped the chain around her..I almost died, lol. Hit me like a ton of bricks.

It makes me wonder how many "Vanilla" are now entertaining thoughts of bondage in their play time, and of how many will be brave enough to tell their partner about it. LOL. Craig Brewer(director and screen writer) may be my newest hero.Giggling .

We had a screening of the movie at our house, in the great company of Beach Mystress and her 'toy-boy'. The movie was better than expected. It was so good, that beth didn't fall asleep on until about 45 minutes into the movie, well over her average of 10-15 minutes.

I always wondered what happened to Jules after his partner Vincent Vega died and he announced at the dinner that the "divine intervention" of his near death experience inspired him to quit his life as a hit man. Obviously he must have turned State's evidence against Marcellus Wallace and moved to Georgia to be a farmer. The character may be called 'Lazarus' but you can't fool me - that's Jules!

The plot is similar to on-line life versus real time. The idea of having a chained nymphomaniac living in your house may be great in concept but the care & feeding are no easy task. If you don't keep an eye on her, you may find her humping the living room radiator pipes or the teenage boy who stopped by for the world famous butter beans you have growing in your garden.

Seriously though if you can get by the fact that that Wednesday's, I mean Rae's (I'll admit - seeing Wednesday Addam's nude was a little weird.) eye bruise change shape and color every other scene; and how her white panties stayed pristine white throughout the first hour even though she'd had them on while playing topless football, getting beat up and dumped on the road, and crawled around a muddy field; its a decent movie.

Perhaps it was decent because I didn't expect it to be, but it had a story worthy of the investment of time to watch. The quality of the actors involved had a lot to do with it. Besides Jackson, there was S. Epatha Merkerson from Law and Order fame, and John Cotharan, who played the Reverend R.L., also was believable. Justin Timberlake pretending he was straight and able to 'handle' his nypho girlfriend was a weak link. Maybe he would have been better if 'Rae' was short for Raymond.

The BDSM relevance? None, unless the thought of a 40 pound chain attached around your slave's waist is your 'WIITWD'. There was only one scene where it the chain came into play, and it more closely resembled Quint reeling in the shark from 'Jaws' versus anything erotic. Although as I think about it, there was a scene where she was 'walked' by Lazarus in the field, resembling something from the Folsom Street Fair. However, I would have gone with a lighter chain. The movie had more relationship, religious, and musical overtones than lifestyle.

The music was very good if you like good old fashioned Blues. Samuel Jackson learned to play the guitar for the film. I don't know if all the playing was his, but if not - he faked it better than Milli Vanilli.

Go in expecting little and you'll enjoy it. Think it will be Citizen Kane of lifestyle movies and you'll be disappointed.

Merc & beth give it 3 1/2 Stars out of 5.

Saw it when it 1st came out.Not bad for a low budget flick. Timberlake can sing,but can`t act his way out of a paper bag.

There`s really noth`n bd/sm about it,IMO.The chain part has nothing overtly sexual,cept the image of a half naked hottie, w/ a chain and lock around her neck.Like everyone else,I was hoping for some bd/sm flavor,this wasn`t even bouillon.

The music,actually,was the best part for me.
My gf loved it.

I just saw it, it was not the least bit BDSM related. It was about flawed people who tried to save each other, that's it. Good music, Samuel L. Jackson always rocks, but otherwise much ado about nothing, to me.

I really enjoyed Black Snake Moan. I'd had no desire to see the movie, but it was an excuse to spend time with Merc and beth, which is always fun. (They have the BEST peach tree.. yum yum.) It was a treat that the movie was actually good, and I also think it is because I didn't expect much of it.

I do understand why some people would read lifestyle elements into it; and I don't mean the chain. I do not feel it was not a lifestyle movie, but there were parts that resonated. One of those was the scene with her at his knee. I've been on the other end, with an adoring sub I've been taking care of looking up at me. The pose and the expression are perfect. The fact that we read BDSM into it is because of our own mindset. Some vanilla friends didn't find anything kinky about the movie.. The theme of the movie is relationships, personal growth and faith, not BDSM.

I enjoyed the movie... but I gave Prozac Nation a decent review simply because of Christina Ricci's nude scene.

Ricci is a plus five on my movie scale. And not just because she indirectly lead to my first BD/SM experience.

I enjoyed the movie but I would have to agree. I didn't see anything BDSM or D/s in it. Just a bunch of people with issues.

I enjoyed the film (though a lot of it, particularly Ricci's endless rolling around), I considered hopelessly cheesy. Nevertheless, at least it was different from standard Hollywood fare.

All I wanted to do to this particular chained nymphomaniac though was forcefeed her cheesecake. She looked so emaciated during the film ... I guess it was in-character ... that I couldn't find her remotely arousing.

I liked this movie. I loved the music, and I loved the interaction between the two primary characters, and I liked the chain. As far as BDSM relevance- in the world of this film, the idea of being chained so you can be free is one of the themes. Also in this film, she finds piece by submitting her will to his- and letting him mold her into what he knows she can become. While much of the vocabulary we surround ourselves with is absent, the film vibrates with that which we understand.

What I don't like about the movie: once again, two people committing to each other in a traditional holy matrimony is the solution.

Sigh.

It's sexy as hell for sure. I had no idea Ricci was so hot! She nailed the role for me. Struck me more being about abuse, the damage it causes, healing and finding peace.

My owner and I watched it shortly after it came out, he told me I would enjoy it. I was hesitant but he was right.
I wish he would chain me to a heater nude like that!
I loved the scene were she wrapped herself in it.
