Im not knocking you here Curious Lord. The old saying goes "one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter." Many so called respectable countries use the subterfuge of a third party, therefore being able to deny all knowledge of any Arms dealing.

Noriega, Saddam/Rumsfeld, Iran Contra, GW1 (its okay if you invade/don't worry they won't invade), and the list goes on.

Got to love someone who wants to talk about politics and history who thinks two decades is a long time!  Time to change the diapers.

Then it does sound like the U.S. organizations took part in some terrorist activities- assuming that's what you're saying- about twenty years back.

Twenty years, to me, though.. is a rather long time.  Almost the entirety of my life.  It does sound like the U.S. has done some rather distasteful things before I grew up.

Again, the span involved in you growing up, and assuming that corrupt politicians and their agencies grew honest at the same time, is a bit of a stretch.

To borrow from another arena, what was their motivation?

Haven't many of these individuals been retired and replaced by now?  Aren't the ones that are at the top of the ladder just grunts when these things happened?  Not that everyone's entirely innocent, and not that new faces can't resort to old methods- but it does seem presumptious, to me, to just assume that they are guilty and that they will do the same.

I guess I just don't want to label anyone prematurely.

I'm all for avoiding labelling without evidence.
I'm also heavily influenced by the notion that the organization corrupts the person, and that 'new blood' rarely stands a chance against entrenched organizational dynamics.
Warren Bennis' works come to mind.

But then, I'm just an old cynic...

In my opinion..... CIA.. KGB... MOSSAD.. MI5 Ect ect. Its not so much the individual, but how the organisation has got itself too entrenched in its ways of doing things.

The title of this thread was misleading, to put it lightly.

Yes, the title of this thread is obviously a terrorist.

None taken. I was just joining in the satirical spirit of the OP. If you don't want to join in, then just sit there on the wall. Maybe a cute girl will ask you to dance. I've seen humor from you. Insecurity, too. Relax.

Yeah.. I get you're after the satire thing..

I just mean, it seems people can be more prone to "satirical" lines than actually talk at times.  Not you in specific, just in general.  It can be funny, but the moderation seems to be a bit over the top in cases.

Meh.  Maybe I'm just in an overly serious mood.  Perhaps it has something to do with being tired.

Not always. I write some serious stuff, too. My wisecrack was not aimed at you. If you think it's dumb. shrug it off. If I responded to every dumbass thing I read in these forums, I'd have twenty red paddles over my picture.

In all seriousness, I like CL's posts....I think he is a welcome addition to the forums.  Not that it matters, I am but a lowly troubadour...Singing my song in the hopes of acquiring some rancid gash.

I agree. I like them, too. And I'm just a clown...a broken-hearted, scary fucking clown.
