In the car a far bit today, so listened to Can's Tago Mago twice over and Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins' Rabbit Fur Coat once. Then I got home and was directed to something completely unexpected:

Ysabella Brave - My Way

One woman, one webcam (steady, boys!), one backing track, one bucketload of charm and talent. She also has a bash at other standards, and bizarrely, Radiohead's No Surprises.

Bob Dylan - "Positively 4th Street" mostly because I'm being nostalgic for Dinkytown at this moment and how much simpler life was then...

Good stuff! It's raining here and I'm inspired...
Leonard Cohen - "New Skin for the Old Ceremony" followed by "Dear Heather" and finished with "Ten New Songs"

I'm liking LC more now that he's even more gravelly...

Leonard Cohen!  Love!

Now I'm listening to him, too, in my head.

Excerpt from poem #39, "She sat down at the piano...,"
from The Energy of Slaves,
by Leonard Cohen:

"...I was rambling through the yellow pages
of my old slave's heart
for something better than gratitude
when upon the mucous she installed
the tiniest royal sailing ship
the sea had ever given back
saying, Sometimes I am with thee
sometimes I must go to where
a man is stranger to his pain"
