This topic was mentioned on another site I frequent, and my results made me take pause. Go to Google, and type in your handle under search (i.e: I typed kc692). The results were 4 pages long, and although not all the results were accurate, most were. There were links to profiles on various sites, (this one included), links to threads posted, etc. Since I take steps to protect my privacy (as I am sure most do) this is not necessarily a problem, but I wanted to make sure to let everyone possible know in case they have not. For the ones that don't care, fine, but, I just wanted to get everyone's take on this.....

Hmmmm...I know I am visible on 12 different sites, 8 of which are BDSM related. I just did a quick google search, and mostly collarme and collarchat came up. My own site did not, yet I know people have found Me through search. Since I use a handle for basic anonymity, I don't worry about it too much. Non-kinky friends who know Me do not know of this user name, which I have had for years.

I typed in dark angel once - and all I saw was jessica alba...

WHAT ABOUT MEEEEE!

Lol - seriously though - many have my nick or something similar, and sometimes it is hard to seperate them all. But I am just me and haven't the same concerns as those who are still'in the closet' as it were.

I show up on two sites, but I have only been using this nick for six months. Surprisingly, there are others out there who are also using this nick.

I'm out all over the place, I've been an active poster for years, I love sharing my pic, and I even moderated the Castlerealm site with Colm while he had his discussion group up. I'm sure there are a few groups I've forgotten about, but I'm very "out" so it's not a big deal for me.

I guess I am just suprised, because on my business website, I spend a lot of time, entering keywords, markers etc., I never thought pages like this would have any markers to come up on anything but site specific internal search engines....

SEO is a tricky thing. I know people who make a lucrative living specialising in it.

As LadyAngelika, mostly my collarme.com, collarchat.com and alt.com stuff comes up.

If I Google my real name, there are 200, 000 hits and I have 6 of the 10 listings on page 1. That is due to academic publishings, speaking at conferences, collaboration on large projects, etc.

I'll have to look you up on alt, and I would love to see some of your published material if you wouldn't object to sending me links privately. I have the feeling I will enjoy them as much as your writings here, smiles....

best regards,

Google turned up less then one page on web searches for stormsfate. This could be bad or good depending on how you view it.

Now my situation is different. My nick has been around for years but it is a semi common word, so the results don't always go back to me. Also under my real name I am usually linked with a british comedian. None of this bothers me in the least. Now I know there are pics of me out there but if you don't know what you are looking for you probably won't find them. Not only that the subs are usually naked. I am usually a side note to the photos. Nothing like having a gorgeous shot of a sub and then ruining it by having me in it. ;)

Sincerely,
Brendhan

I created this name for this site. Wanted something different and the name seemed right at the time.
Since this site I've taken this name to another.

As far as my real name....I only find it in my professional life. Beyond that nothing yet.

hmmmmmmmmmm............ anything bad??? lol

I "re-googled" and found some information about avatars, the earth communication centre (??) and of course two whole links to collarme (which didn't work) .. so actually nothing at all about me.. but a few odd things about other quietkiitens out there in cyberspace.

I did this last night, actually. Googling CalliopePurple gets threads here, a site with my fanfiction entered in a contest, various fanfiction sites and guilds related to an online RPG I used to play, and a couple threads in a video game-related forum.

I apparently, share the same name, first and last, with a Cornell soccer player, a person suspected of killing a Canadian artist in the early 1900s, a Scottish archaeologist, and who knows what else. None of the places I found with my name were really me.

I share my name with a biology student in Texas, a hot biker babe model and hundreds of women in Germany. LOL
And I beat them all for the top 3 rankings!

Googling 'Isolde' gave me 86 pages worth of results. My livejournal nick resulted in 5 pages, with 2 results that were mine. My real name returns 2 pages with no "me" results...apparantly I am also a 14 year old fencer and web designer.
