If you don't have any professional reasons for be here, it's hard to immigrate legally. You have to be able to get a job here with a company that will sponsor you, proving that they could not hire someone in the US that had the same skills. It requires a lot of paperwork and proof of various things -- you can find this on the US Immigration site.
The other option is if you file for a fiance visa (you have to be getting married). Another option is to come to the US on a tourist visa (you can stay up to 6 months) and get married to a us citizen (ie your Mistress) in that time period. However, you cannot work legally until you are verified and finish all the paperwork and the INS determines your marriage is legitimate.
You could always come out here on a tourist visa and stay for awhile to figure out what you want to do; however, you cannot legally earn income during that time.
That's it in a nutshell.
