becca333 -> A Freudian response (8/16/2007 7:55:49 AM)

I'm wondering who else has noticed this phenomenon:

When my Dom gets hold of a cane or crop, or any long whippy implement, he goes SuperDom.  There's something very Freudian about his response to certain implements.

This isn't in any way a complaint - the crop is my favourite thing.  But it's interesting to see the extra intensity when he's swishing some long, whippy implement around.

It's gotten so bad with me I've been escorted off the premises of some gas stations for doing strange sorts of things with the gas dispensers.

Personally I lighten up with a cane.Real damage could be inflicted

Yup, here as well. Himself can't walk by a toy without picking it up and flicking it but the buggy whip has got to be his favorite. (That's why I try to stay as close as possible to him. ::grins::)

I find myself playing with various utensils in kitchen stores, with thoughts of "Hmmm, this could work..."

Just be careful with the Pasta maker on the Kitchen Aid. We had a serious accident with that one. ::giggles::

Oh, how's the Ugly Sister working for ya? [8D]

IMO sounds more like a classically conditioned response than a Freudian one.

For most of us, we only use whips/crops/floggers/etc only for BDSM play.

So every time we pick one up, it's a reminder of the other times we get our sadism on.

Joseff -> RE: A Freudian response (8/16/2007 6:26:19 PM)

There are always some toys I enjoy just holding more than others, not to mention using. Usually a new implement gets that kind of response from me, a mixture of imagining the things it can do, and anticipation of doing those things.

Ever since Angel and I started wit our age play, I cant be sent to help stock in the baby aile without shopping and being WAY to distracted to be of any good.

Is there an optimal distance to get the perfect swing and hit? (just curious!)

While I would not go all Domme with implements I can see the attraction to play with them, and hear them snap, crackle and pop..orrr, maybe I am just hungry for some Rice Krispies!...Tempting

So you're saying.. the more a Dom likes using such impliments, and the more they rely on them, the smaller their primary impliment is?  Interesting.

Heh.

LOL an interesting thought, but no, there's no corollary there.

becca333 -> RE: A Freudian response (8/16/2007 11:58:28 PM)

I agree about the shopping - I get totally distracted in some aisles of the supermarket, and find myself tapping a spatula against my hand, testing it - then wondering if anyone realises what I'm doing.

We bought our crop at the local saddlers.  That place is HEAVEN - all that leather, lovely straps, so many kinds of crops and whips (beware of the long crop, it's way worse than the normal one).  I just walk around in pure bliss at all the lovely toys there.  But I have to remember to pretend I have a horse.

came4U -> RE: A Freudian response (8/17/2007 7:05:57 AM)

It feels so phallic when I use my garden hose. I enjoy it, the power of being the life of my plants. I can also write my name in the dirt if with the power spray nozzel.  hawwt.

But seriously, I think that feeling of power and awe came into effect when man first realized if he holds a stick he came to realize that 1. I can poke creatures at a further distance 2. That poking can cause more pain than a finger poke 3. I am out of arms reach of the pokee and can get a better running start

then men invented guns, cannons and missles. sigh

Thereby, anything used other than a hand is used as excess power, mentally and physically.  Why? because of the first guy who picked up a stick and poked his lil sister. Blame the Geiko neanders.
