I would stick with the restaurant.  I am a firm believer in "if it's meant to be, we will find a way to be together"

Yeah, well, the romantic sap in me too...

Anyway, thank you all for reminding me of why I'm still such an outsider and freak... ;)

I would be curious to know why you cannot have both, the girl and the restaurant?

Geography. The restaurant is in one state, the girl in another. The commute is 6 hours one way on a good day.

Time commitment. The girl is looking for 24/7 TPE. The restaurant *IS* 24/7 TPE by definition. Incompatible with geography.

Full disclosure: another reason I backed out of buying the restaurant was because I had a look at the financials I'd be inheriting... so I'm not entirely the romantic I may occasionally seem.

For some reason, the poll is not letting me vote. But I'd say, go for the girl. Both relationships and businesses can fail.....there are no guarantees with either. But putting in the hours and work to build the relationship is bound to be more fun. *smiles*

Try to find a restaurant close to where she lives and buy it. Offer her a chance to help out in it and maybe kill 2 birds with one stone. Sounds simple. (I know it's  probably not).

Good Luck with whatever you decided!!

What did you do?  Is the answer at the end of the thread?   Easy... The girl.
People first!  Always!   There are a million women on this planet, but you may never find bliss with another.   You can do another restaurant if the relationship is a good one for you.   Good luck, do what I said aaight!     M

The poll is closed - the die is cast and the Rubicon crossed, so why bother? I have the data I was looking for.

It comes down to this...
I can either own a crap restaurant that I can gut and remake in my image, or I can be with someone who makes me happy. They're mutually exclusive at this moment.
This is not me asking for help in making the decision (that part is done and done) - but I'm curious as to opinions on this site...

The poll is over, but I would be with the one that made me happy. There are shitloads of restaurants you can buy, but how many people come into our lives, that we truly connect with?

Good luck, either way.

Ah, you chose the girl. Hope it works out.
