dollylima -> 48,000+????What the... (8/17/2007 10:20:35 AM)

A weird thing happened to me last night and I just wanted to share it in case it has some bearing on the security of the site and our individual computers.
I decided to change my screen-name, and in doing so, had to choose a new avatar for the message boards. So, I went to the boards and started browsing through the icons/pictures they have there. One of the files of pictures was called "Raevn Part 1" (I think...Im scared to go back and look!) So, I chose my avatar and everything was fine...
Until last night when I was putting away some pictures that were on my desktop, having just been received via email (my friend's recent trip to Turkey) and noticed a folder on my desktop called "Part 1". Not knowing what that was, I went into it and started clicking on the files in it, which were all pictures. After looking at about twenty pictures, I realized I had somehow unwittingly downloaded a whole you-know-what-load of collarme profile pictures. What the....?
Naturally, I moved the entire folder to TRASH since I dont want a bunch of strangers' pictures (some quite risque) on my computer. Then I went to "secure empty trash" and saw that I had just put over FORTY EIGHT THOUSAND ITEMS in the trash can.
It took all night for my computer to get rid of them all,a nd of course, they arent REALLY gone.
Im a bit peeved about this as I had no intention of downloading this stuff and it seems pretty clear to me where it came from. It scares me that I downloaded a massive quantity of stuff from the internet without even knowing it, just by looking through a folder of icons offered on this site.
Anybody have any idea how this happened?

you changed your name, for one.

I think the second part of the answer will come to you as you sit by the river awaiting the body of your enemy floating by.

Congrats by the way.

Ron, once again, you have me cracking up, alone in front of my computer screen.

I guess I better get down to the river and wait for that answer now.

Aileen, that's why I like Ron, he's such a shallow guy.

...dunno why but i am reminded of this......

"His mind was like a soup dish, wide and shallow; it could hold a small amount of nearly anything, but the slightest jarring spilled the soup into somebody's lap." -- Irving Stone
