I've hardly watched TV in the last couple of years.  I couldn't even tell you what shows are on.  If there's a decent movie on I might tune in if I dont' have anything else going on, otherwise, the TV usually stays off.

e01n -> RE: what tv shows are you into now? (8/19/2007 1:58:51 PM)

Deadliest Catch: I know some of those guys... It was how they paid for college in one or 2 seasons...

I'm starting to have an appreciation for Spongebob Squarepants... which is sick. Graham Norton is often on at my house. But my favorite TV trainwreck... VH1 Classic Albums. Hilarious to see what these guys look like now. David Gilmour looks like he should be teaching history in public school... truly ironic.

DrkJourney -> RE: what tv shows are you into now? (8/19/2007 2:12:59 PM)

I don't watch much, mostly just sits on DVR until it bitches at me that it's full....lol....but Numb3rs (love me some David Krumholtz) is my all time fav. My second will be the new Grey's Anatomy spin off...(love me some Tim Daly)

Interesting news, Level.  I was curious whether Patinkin felt the show was lowering its standards.  I'd noticed the second season's writing and one cast change seemed to be a decline, compared to the first, and they kinda stopped going into Patinkin's character's back story.  Still, the cast and character development are still pretty strong.

So, I looked it up.  According to the executive producer, who complained very publicly, in a major fan blog for the show, the first indication that he wouldn't be on this season's show, was on the first day of script run-through's for the new season, when Patinkin simply didn't show up.  The executive producer wanted fans to know that it wasn't about contract negotiations, and said that they bent over backwards to give Patinkin anything he asked.  (Maybe that was the problem - they didn't bend over forward?)

Later, Patinkin announced he was leaving due to, "creative differences," and thanked the studio for releasing him from the show.  - I'm very curious about the truth behind the scenes, when this sort of thing happens.

Joe Mantegna is going to join the cast, mid-season, apparently.

I saw one bit of gossip that sounded as if they were moving Thomas Gibson out, but fortunately, I guess that's incorrect.  That guy's a great actor - I'd like to see him showcased in some other great roles.

Criminal Minds fans, I found the -nth degree in fan blogs, with a pipeline to people who make the show: http://criminalmindsfanatic.blogspot.com/  The exec. producer's post about Patinkin quitting is on July 14th, 2007.

I just LOVE Law & Order:Criminal Intent - I sooo love Vincent D'Onofrio!! He is a great character actor. And damn cute.

...while I was at it, I went looking to see if I could find out why, last season, they started having Vincent D'Onofrio and Katherine Erbe in only half the episodes of "Criminal Intent."  Also, why NBC was moving this new season to their cable network, USA.

I was unhappily surprised to discover that Vincent D'Onofrio had suffered health problems, from being worked to exhaustion.  Apparently, being in almost every scene of a prime time, hour-long series production, like that, was so exhausting, Vincent D'Onofrio actually passed out and was hospitalized, on more than one occasion, in late 2004, while shooting the fourth season.

Basically, in order to keep him and Katherine Erbe on, without working them sick, someone devised splitting up the shows between two different detective teams.

Absence of D'Onofrio/Erbe, on half the episodes, plus moving the show's time slot around, hurt the ratings.  USA network, also owned by NBC, wanted it, and they'll play new episodes, beginning next month.

I imagine they'll use Gibson more now, and I agree, he does a solid job. Patinkin did the same thing with Chicago Hope a few years back, very unprofessional.

sublimelysensual -> RE: what tv shows are you into now? (8/20/2007 5:26:27 AM)

-quick reply-

I watch a little of everything, I guess, except the csi type shows, for some reason, they don't turn my crank. So let's see..Ghost Hunters, Deadliest Catch, the "lobstah" one that's started, Dirty Jobs, Cash Cab, food network for me as well, and the reality shows on bravo..Top Chef, Project Runway. Design Star on hgtv and the flipping shows. And yes, addicted to Big Brother/Survivor...

So, now that the new TV series have started for the season, what are people liking and hating?

I'm really liking a show that didn't even interest me, in the promos: "Life."  It's the one about the policeman who was convicted of a crime, and after years in prison, has been exonerated and released.  Now, he's back on the force, he's rich, due to reparations (sp?), and he's investigating the crime for which he was convicted.

The writing's really interesting and fresh, and the acting's very good.

I wanted to watch "Filthy, Dirty Money," but it's on against "Life."

What're y'all liking?  or not?

Thanks for the info, I just caught bits and pieces of the most recent show and I thought maybe,  Mandy Pantinkin, was temporary.  I really enjoy the show, he'll be missed, but I'll keep watching as long as the writing keeps up to past standards.

I like the a few of the criminal investigative shows including the CSI series and Numbers, but the shows haven't been as good lately.  My favorite show "Heroes" from last season is a bit of a disappointment this time around but I'm not giving up on it just yet.  on any of them.

I'm having schedualing problems on Thursdays since three of my favorites come on at the same time,  "The Office", "Grey's" Anatomy, "CSI" and I don't have TIVO or whatever it's called.
I love home improvement/decorating shows/crafting shows, PBS, travel, etc.  News investigative and otherwise.  Information junkie  here.

Newer shows

I like "Dirty Sexy Money"
Reaper's first episode was a hoot.
I actually enjoyed the first Caveman episode (kinda raunchy)

I patiently await the return of "Medium"

Well what the heck else you want me to do when I've become a born again virgin?  Read a book,  ha, I have a stack of em.  [:D]
